The oil pump
drive shaft isn't stuck in the bottom of the distributor is it? If it isn't then most likely the shaft just needs to be lined up with the hex in the distributor. Spin it over with a remote starter or have someone bump the key while you apply a little downward force and they usually go in. Good luck.

I'm a huge fan of the original

Open it up and I bet you'll find a bunch of broken parts. I'd say the motor is toast, but I'd at least pull the heads to make sure. If you're wondering where a piston went, it's probably in the crank case somewhere. haha.
