Hi Diane, I'm pleased you were able to identify John on the 1911 census. How sad that John was placed in an asylum because he suffered with epileptic fits, poor chap. It must be some comfort to know John is buried with his dad. By the way, Royds Hall was a Grammar School in Marsh, Hudd's, and is still a High School - so far as I'm aware it's never had any association to Storthes Hall. Lizzy

I don’t miss shovelling the driveway. We soon learnt to make sure the town shifters had been out before we started digging! Dad refused to invest in a snowblower when he had three healthy kids to do the job. However, I did miss a ‘proper winter’ and three years ago I went ‘back home’ for my first Christmas there in 30 years. What a let down. No snow in Toronto where it was a tropical average of 7C most days. A visit to the west was more...

My week for questions

Does anyone use the Library Edition of A**.co.uk?? I have been uptown and trying to use it. Have a family tree posted but unable to access it via the Library Edition. Does anyone know if your Family Tree can accesed through it??? Know one at the Library seems to know the answer. I sent an email asking about it but no response back yet Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Wendy

Sue - our gas (heating) bills are about $800 per year - about £400 with electricity about the same. And yes it is fun seeing how other people in other parts of the world cope with seasonal changes

I don't think you can access the family trees through the library edition as you have to be logged in personally. At least, I have never been able to. Someone will put me right, if I am wrong. Sue
