Frustrated - Page 2 - Atkins Diet

It may be true that things are more difficult now. This may be a good reason for you to be extra vigilant with what you consume. Stick to whole foods and eat less chemicals. But there are many here with hypo thyroid like me. And once the medication is working, which mine is, there are really not any metabolically with the thyroid stopping weight loss. Slowing perhaps but stopping no. If you are diabetic (II ?) you should absolutly limit carbs...

The OWL carb ladder was built the way it was for a reason. It adds in the foods that impact your blood sugar the least ... in an orderly fashion. Order is good. A lot of the people I've seen "fail" have done so because they added in whatever they wanted whenever they wanted.

Welcome to the Atkins Board. Glad you found the board and are excited about starting the plan. First of all, Atkins is not a "diet" it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now. A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are...

In Dr. Atkins' experience, most people do best following the Carbohydrate Ladder. I've seen many people stalled by tortillas. And one of the purposes of OWL is to also change your eating habits. The first thing you have added is tortillas. This should tell you something!

Yes, that is actually a very good loss for someone so close to goal. But as Georgina said you might want to move up to Ongoing Weight Loss so that you learn how to maintain the loss while losing those last 6 pounds slowly. And, be prepared---even if you get back to your pre-baby weight you are not going to look exactly like your old self. The muscles may not be as tight and you may be slightly saggier. That's where strengthening exercise...

Oh Barrnone, now watch those cheatings here and there we all know how that can end. Good luck at the grocery store, our stores run out of everything thats needed by today to make a Thanksgiving dinner, but of course I bet there isn't a run on low carb holiday ingredients, lol. All I have left to get is my fresh veggies (stuff for a veggie platter and potatoes for the rest of the crew). Hi Earl I'm back to sitting where my stats have...

Know what my husband is always telling me to do something! I hope you are doing well today, where are you in Boonie California....I was raised in Sacto, many many moons ago. You stick to your induction, and down the road you can look forward to yogurt and so many other things. I actually am basically a low-carber, a modified version of Atkins. My doctor calls it Foxkins. I limit to under 12 grams per day and I was so excited to find the...

Where are your vegetables? Atkins isn't just protein, you should strive for 65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs. Purple on the sticks can mean you are dehydrated...you don't mention how much pure water you are drinking but you are drinking too much coffee and too many sweetners - 3 packets daily are the maximum and 3 creams a day.
As far as gaining 2 pounds, are you close to TOM? Many ladies ...

Hi Ed and welcome. I agree with you about the board. Just checking in daily keeps me more accountable and when I stop visiting daily, I know I am in trouble and need to get back on track. This site uses the 2002 version of the Atkins book, not sure if you are doing that one or an earlier version. Thats a FYU just in case you see advice that isn't as you remember it.

Can you tell us what you eat and drink typically. Like today. We may be able to help you tweak. How much do you weigh now? How tall are you? Are you exercising?
Welcome to ADBB. We will try to help.

Sounds so good, Megs. I am going to look for that recipe to try soon. Yum. I love the southwestern soup. Today, I had (late time zone) tuna salad at work. Wasn't real happy with it, not my favorite, but I didn't have time to cook myself.

Welcome!
>>Am I correct in the understanding that during induction I am more concerned with keeping carbs under 20 gr and eating lots of fat and protein?>>
It's my opinion based on lots of experience that you should be getting as close to 20 net carbs per day ... and as Dr. Atkins writes in Rule #2 ... "most of which must come in the form of salad greens and other vegetables."

I don't know what exactly you mean by "close", but it might not be the best strategy. Dr. Atkins told us that the last 5-10 lbs should be lost in Pre-Maintenance. And between Induction and Pre-Maintenance there is OWL. Most of our weight should be lost ...

Here and on plan, the scale is playing games with me again, but I also think I didn't drink enough water this weekend, so water is top priority this this week. I also did kind of a pre-rung 3 experiment with pistachios, had about a half a cup. I won't try them again for a couple of weeks, but not sure yet if I'm going to be able to handle them. Funny, I say I'm on rung 2, but all I've added ...
