Did you install IE8 recently? If so, that's a known issue that is affecting
some users who installed IE8.
One workaround is to uninstall IE8, which reverts you back to IE7.
Even without uninstalling IE8 you can make it work for all but TXT and
JPG attachments by doing the following:
Right-click on the shortcut that you use to
open Windows Mail.

Oh : I had some fun. I did manage to join the domain, but I cannot see it
from the local
user account: I have to log on to the domain; when I cannot
see the local user data. Sad
Maybe I have to delete the local user account and copy the saved data to the
domain user account.
The reason I started all this: Can Network Discovery be kept default on?

It may be symptomatic rather than being a cause
eg other CPU-hogging processes running at the same time and
interfering with
the info being displayed (?).
If so, Task Manager may help in that respect to identify any culprit(s).

running script was in case where they
found some scripts on internet ("if you have problems with icon cache
corruption, just run attached file and it should be fixed").
Maybe you should focus on AutoIt examples - this is as far as I

It sounds like a particular application / service is keeping the computer
awake.
Aspects of Windows Media Player can do this, as can
Windows Media Center.
eg disabling this service may help ....

You need to isolate the hanging process. Do this by opening Task Manager
(right click the taskbar and select it), then selectively end active
processes prior to initiating a shutdown. When you are able to do so
correctly, you'll know that the problem resides in one of the processes that
