I got and still have "chest" pain from time to time. (I'm only in my late 30s.) Went to see a doctor, did the heart scan, etc, etc. Nothing wrong. The doctor's final diagnosis is it was just mild muscle inflammation on the muscles on/around my rib cage.

At some point, Bruce will pop in here to give you details for the TD-4. In the meantime...
What you're describing is a Mask Time issue. Open up the TD-4 manual and look to see what it says. It sounds as if you want to raise the Mask Time setting until this goes away.
16th notes on an upright rubber pad? Ugh. If you can master that on an upright rubber kick, you're a far, far better...

I don't know how close the price is these days but I would go for the TD-4. I use the TD-4 and I feel its sounds are much better than the TD-6v which I owned a few years ago. I even use the TD-4 live at church but also use it with Addictive Drums and have used it also with SD2.1.
Since this is only for home practice, the TD-4 should work well. You can upgrade to mesh pads all around later if ...

ok, i'll be first to tear it to shreds...
nah, it was quite a good little groove you had going there.
even without a click or quantisation you seemed pretty much in time the whole way through..
the hotspot on the snare is very noticeable though
nice, thanks for posting..

Just go for a good $300 pedal. If you buy a $200 one, you'll regret it...
Also, if you decide you prefer using a single pedal, you can sell your $300 pedal for $200-250 rather easily...
So get an Iron Cobra, you won't regret it
btw I bought mine from bpmmusic.com for $299

Hello and welcome to the forum Rich. I think its mostly a cost thing. Some people do, however, prefer the look of short pads hence cutting them in half.
Can't say I'd be able to do it to a kit either!
