I am reading the synopsis of the new book by Alain Badiou, about numbers. I am tempted to buy it. I have never read any Badiou before. What is he all about? Is it worth it? Does he write well?

Based on experience, they usually want something from you (usually money) although there is definitely a vibe which has become more obvious over time to me when separating the wronguns from the right. I can´t help but think I´m letting the side down in some way by blanking people. Better than being skanked though.

Got this in my inbox in response to an enquiry about the ethical record of some of the companies involved in the Metrix Consortium. Quote: Dear Mr Erasmus, Thank you for your email regarding Raytheon and its role in the Defence Technical Academy (DTA). In the first instance, I would like to reassure you that Raytheon does not manufacture cluster bombs...

I know that's a bit vague, but I'm basically looking for a few recommendations. Preferably somewhere fairly near a tube station, needs to be fairly quiet (i.e somewhere to sit down and not completely rammed with 5 million people) and not dodgy. It's for a Friday night, so I realise this may be alot to ask for in central london....

If Aldebaraan has written a book can someone (maybe Aldebaraan himself / herself) provide details so that I can read it? Many thanks. F X

Look, I know this sounds terrible but... I'm in London for a interview on Monday and will have 3 to 5 hours to kill due to a train ticket booking blunder. Clearly, I'm going to go to the pub but that one next to St Pancras is awful. Where should I go within a comfortable getting-back-to-the-station timeframe for say 5 pints and a bap? I'm not averse to getting laid/having a ...

... they need relations with other people to make meaning of their life. This need is not conducive to independence, and hence freedom. We love freedom, but we seem to need relationships with others more. The love of freedom is trumped by the dependence on others.

I've been trying to get parental control over my kid's WoW account that I've been paying for. You'd think that would be easy, after all, Blizzard does say "If you do not have access to the account in question please contact Billing and Account Services for assistance." Trouble is, when I contact Billing and Account Services they ask for information (account name and password) which, if I ...

I've just read a very interesting essay, so I thought I'd briefly sketch the general outline here, both to help myself grasp the structure and to see what you make of it.
