Within this month, AMD will release a FireStream GPGPU card based on the successful RV770 graphics processor. This card provides computing parallelism derived from 800 stream processors, that churn out a peak collective computational power of 1000 GFlops. That's a 100% improvement over the FireStream 9170 in terms of computational power and a 60% improvement in terms of GFlops per Watt. That ...

Imagine if friends and families had the ability to instantly watch movies from Netflix, live out their musical fantasies through Rock Band 2 and Lips, star in their own Hollywood classics with You're in the Movies, or have the power to never miss the latest episode of Heroes—all from one device, starting at $199. That device is Xbox 360, and today Microsoft announced lower retail prices for...

Hey guys, I wanted to ask if anyone can give me an example of solid, stable OC BIOS settings for a Q6600 on an Asus P5E Deluxe Mobo. I am really interested in OC'ing my system, and have tried to read up on the subject but just can't seem to grasp the full concept. I was thinking if someone, maybe someone that has a similar setup to mine who OC'd their build can post their BIOS settings, I...

I wanted to do this for a while and finally got the patience to do it. It took 6+ hours of sanding by hand and here is the result: As you can see the chip somehow survived. I took a screen shot in the morning and I was in a rush. My temperature before this procedure was 75-80 with both the cooler and the IHS lapped. After it will not go above 56 at 3.2 Ghz and that is with an ...

Engineers and researchers at the IBM Hursley development lab in England and the Almaden Research Center in California have demonstrated groundbreaking performance results that outperform the world's fastest disk storage solution by over 250 percent. IBM has demonstrated, for the first time, the game-changing impact solid-state technologies can have on how businesses and individuals manage and ...

I own two 2X1GB sets of Ballistix Tracers (Part No. BL12864AL1065.16FD3). How do I tell if they're D9s? Also, I plan on purchasing a set of these and would like to know if they're D9s as well. So I guess I'm asking if there's a list or database available that, given a set of RAM, will tell you whether or not D9s were used. Thanks.

I've been looking at the different cooling options for my 2900 gt as the stock cooler is pretty noisy under load (for decent push of air). The options I've seen are: Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 2900 It's just too long and I read there's problems with the fans and num of connections needed. Thermalright HR-03 R600 Supposedly the best of the bunch, but it's huge and ...

I'm registered with ITT tech this year for a degree in CNS. (Computer Networks Systems / Administration) I was told that most of the teachings were on Linux. I saw the link for IMB's exam prep and I will use it but how could I get linux to work on my laptop WITH vista also? Sorry if this is already posted somewhere...

Google chrome is now available for download. I've downloaded it, and first impressions are good. QUICK and dirty review I'm writing this post in Chrome. It's surprising how simple the browser interface is; no clutter + lots of "screen real estate" for the websites. I like the tab method. It is very intuitive and is a better implementation than other browsers I've tested. Far better than ...
