Err so what exactly is the story here? She didn't buy an already dead parrot, she spent £50,000 on treatment for one she'd owned for 30 years that fell ill - not something I'd do but it's her money.Sadly the creature died despite lavishing that cash on its medical bills. The vet was probably saying all along "look for £25 we can end it." Story is??? Is it supposed to be heartwarming that she spent the price of a...

Quote: In a March 16, 2010 Washington, D.C. meeting with members of the Jefferson Area TEA Party, Democrat Congressman Tom Perriello (VA CD-05), was instructing constituents via a mini-dissertation on Congressional spending. While addressing the crowd, he veered off into uncharted territory: Congressional stealing! In this remarkable clip by videographer Audrey Welborn, Tom Perriello finally tells the truth as he frankly affirms about...

My dictionary defines a furore as an outbreak of fury, so if you don't think the emotions displayed warrant the word fury, then it shouldn't be a furore either. Perhaps "furore" is just more devalued in the USA than "fury". They're used about equally by tabloids here whenever somebody's feeling mildly peeved.

Why are athletic shoe shoelaces so darn long? Do they expect us to tie them around our ankles? Do they think we find it stylish to double knot and tuck the leftovers down under the crossed laces? Is it a plot by orthopedic practices to drum up business when we trip on them?

I got Pride and Prejudice and Zombies from the library. Only I mis-requested and got the audiobook, which I didn't intend. However, this got Li'l to listen to part of it, and she was guffawing, so that's always a good thing.

Conservative talk show hosts and columnists have ridiculed an 11-year-old Washington state boy's account of his mother's death as a "sob story" exploited by the White House and congressional Democrats like a "kiddie shield" to defend their health care legislation.

So, I went to try and apply to get my kid on Medicaid since I haven't heard back from any jobs.
I get taken back to an office and asked a lot of questions, and then the lady goes to looking for some form or other, and I'm left sitting there bored for several minutes, and I start to read her wall.
There's this on sign in Spanish, and I start to try and work out what it says, since I ...

Ads for menstrual products remain conspicuously euphemistic, typically featuring women practicing yoga in white spandex, riding white horses along the beach, or airborne in cheerleader outfits.
The U by Kotex campaign aims to both parody such conventions, and to make an impression with marketing that is more frank. But that approach turns out to be a bit too frank for some networks.

Did anybody happen to see the Animal Planet show on non-native species wreaking havoc on Florida's flora and fauna? A bit sensational IMO, but I have seen enough episodes of Animal Cops Miami to know that pythons, various lizards, etc are something of a problem in the state. My question: how much? Any real people insights? The show also mentioned feral pigs and said that they were in other parts ...

Not-Dear Coworker,
Don't you have anything better to do than spread around that kind of tension and discomfort in the office? Grow up already. I would try to address this diplomatically with you, but I know you well enough to know you'll just laugh no matter how clear I make it that I'm not joking.

My son is 15, and nothing is ever his fault. I am so damn sick and tired of it!
Our only neighbor lives in Chicago, it's their summer 'cottage' (it's called that but it's a house). He gave my son M. the key to his house (or rather the combo to the lock-box where the key is). He asked my son to look over the house, inside and out, once a week, and he would pay him $5 a week (mail it or give...

If there is no history of U.T.I.s then baking soda baths are fine from what I was told by Dr. Poppas. He does feel that little girls should regularly take showers and save baths as a occasional treat but he is a pediatric urologist so its more of a "better safe than sorry" kinda thing. My one niece that lives with me takes baths because she hates showers and has never had a U.T.I. but as Larissa...
