Hiya Margaret, glad to see you hanging in there! Seems we all have the same wish and that is wishing this roller coaster would be over sooner than it is. I have some bad news for all of us though, it's gonna take longer guys! A few months even. We're all about to hit a month, YAY! and I wish that was enough to be on the other side. From what I read it's about month 4 or so when it starts to get significantly easier. ...

Seanny, no pretzels are not on the list, unfortunately, and I think I had about 50 Wanna hear something funny (in a non-ha ha sort of way) the nights that I had 6 to 6.5 hours of sleep were the nights I had 1/2 a beet...with mayo <---eggs? I will buy more beets next trip to the grocery store. Grumbling though, cause they take so long to cook. Patience is not high on my list right now, but I know this is the actual thing I...

Woah woah woah..."real" quitters? If you stop smoking you are a REAL QUITTER! Using an NRT is just another method that gradually makes the withdrawal not as bad. The point is N.O.P.E. which stands NOT ONE PUFF EVER. If you aren't smoking it works! It isn't the nicotine that is harming your body but the other chemics and smoke. Don't ever call yourself a nonreal quitter again *bonk* =p

(((June))) The nicodemon is a sly old devil but we have learned that we are bigger, smarter, and stronger! He knows that when you are sick you are weaker and he is still trying to tell you that a smoke would help you to feel better. Dreams are our subconscious talking, but the conscious mind is in control. The subconscious eventually believes what the conscious mind tells it! You sound so good, June, and all your hard work and...

Well, I am so happy cats finally got a mention. If there is one thing in life that old Mr. Robert overidentified with it would be cats. Cats and smoking. So, I guess there are two things I overidentified with. I think I have gassed more than one of them over the years but they never once complain about second hand smoke.

It's okay =] I keep getting those feelings of loneliness every friday for whatever reason. I can relate to running to cigs after a horrible breakup. Just understand that the feeling of freedom you have when you go shopping...you will NEVER HAVE THAT AS A SMOKER. You can't have it both ways. Being a smoker is freaking awful and the changes we've made are for the ...

scoobydoo,
You are right behind me. My weekends were horrible, for the first six weeks, because I smoked everywhere in my house. For you I guess it is Wednesdays. You know that it's all games, right? When I said I had bad weekends, I did. Now I push the thought away, so maybe you need to practice that. Why don't you try that for tomorrow? I'd be interested in knowing how you made out. ...

Hey Deeann,
Welcome to the forum. Like you, I'm out of a job. Didn't move or anything, but lost mine for reasons beyond my control. Am currently looking for full-time employment.
I'm 30, and also don't have an immediate family (besides my "furry" child). I'll admit that smoking was like a companion to me. In fact, I consider it somewhat of a comfort when others let me down, which is a HUGE...

Hi Rob
CONGRATULATIONS on being smoke-free for 6 amazing months!
Rob, I'm so happy for you and I know that you must be over-the-moon with your success.
You've done a fantastic job with your quit, my friend, and look at you now - you have arrived in the Halfway House and are a mere 6 months away from reaching the Clubhouse.
Well done Rob!

Khotch,
I don' t think that rage is necessarily a bad thing. And I won't tell you that it's all in the mind, either. Looks to me that you've found a period of time where all of the demons you carry are gathered and are trying to break you. I'm not sure how I can help you, as you are far far away (as my granddaughter would say), but I will help you with this:
Could you leave Khotch ...

Hi
I am a lozenge user. I use Commit. It does take the edge off.
I was on the patch, and when I went off, I had a miserable time. Even had acupuncture sessions, which really didn't help.
I called my doctor and he said to use the lozenge, even if does contain nicotine. He said it's better than smoking. He recommended one month and slowly wean myself off. I just don't want to ...

DIxie if you select the top level link, Introductions/Newcomers Nook, that sort all of the topics in that category from the most recent down. Then look for the subject of your post yesterday, " New Kid on the Block," I believe it was. If you don't see it, click the link in the upper right (next to the top level) that says, "next 50." This one is pretty small. Don't feel bad, I had a little ...

Hi Chris!
great to see you and thanks for checking in. I spend way too much time here.
I was on the patch and I did have symptoms after I went off. SU, on the other hand, did not. So I think it all depends. And he was a heavier smoker than me.
I did call my doctor, as my symptoms were extraordinarily painful (to me, anyway) and he recommended my staying on the patch a bit longer...
