Did Freddie Green ever solo?
Published (2009-11-25 06:30:00)
well, Green played ok, but 50 years of chunk-a-chunk gets a little tired. It's been years since I heard it, but I believe it was on an album called "Memories Ad Lib", with Basie and Joe Williams. As I recall, the solos were mostly (if not all) chordal, and brief. Knowing my memory, I could be wrong...

The Volume 6 covering 1955 is already announced for release end of October (so now) and mine is awaiting shipment from France so we have 5 box sets already available Cheers, tjobbe

good review in current Wire of the Ra writing antho-- uses the word bullshit too, hah, which is NOT really disrespectful, just calling it true. this is esp. interesting to me bc i have a side-project going w/hip-hop, & you get into all this 15% black nationalism stuff. it can be interesting, & it's very important if you want to undersand cultural expressions but it's pretty wack too, tho' i can ...

A CD takes about five to ten minutes to upload into iTunes. Once the files are in iTunes, it's just a matter of dragging and dropping them onto the iPod which won't take more than a few minutes. When you import the audio into iTunes, as long as your computer is hooked up to the internet, iTunes will fill in most of the data about the CDs assuming the albums are registered in the ...

Glad u also like Stewie Copeland and The Police. Rock is a dreary world, and that group is about the best of it. Try some electro house and trance, in the local clubs, that is, if Austin has any that play it. Nearly all of that can be downloaded for free. For example, lots of DJs have free mix sets on their Myspace.

I would add the early small group stuff with Cootie Williams (one title was Floogie Boo, I think); also, I have, on one of the those Paudra CDs, an early version of him (maybe 1944) doing West End Blues in a broadcast with Cootie (this will be on my upcoming blues box).

You cannot level such critique at this little giant, who follows the path beaten by Leonard Feather and refers to himself as "The world's pre-eminent jazz critic." Larry, you are totally out of line here! It was when Gary cast his wee shadow over me (at a cocktail party, I believe) that I learned the true meaning of humility. Apropos unassertiveness, the door is always open at http://...

If you look at the website above, they also have the manual on line so you can take a look and see if this particular model will work for you. I purchased...
