1. Go into your bios, under config -> alarm, you can switch off the beeps by disabling each one of them. 2. download everest and it should tell you the p/n of your screen, then google the p/n and it should tell you whether it is LED or CCFL. 3. Everest should tell you that, it is usually LG or Samsung...

I've never had any problems with the durability of a thinkpad component. My older thinkpad systems keyboard didn't even fail until after every character on the keyboard was no longer visable to the naked eye. I'd say use it, and if it breaks get it replaced under warranty. If it really bothers you get it replaced nows. I remember someone else saying something about the battery foot and the t400s as well, if that foot...

It is possible when they were working on your system that they changed the power manager settings which would change the amount of runtime while you're on battery. From the sound of it, they may have messed with the configuration of the system. You can either use the System Update utility to reinstall all drivers or you can do them manually from Lenovo's site. Again, I would especially...

I'm not sure if this is Lenevo's or more likely UPS's fault. I added 2 day shipping to my laptop. it left China on 6 Nov. that was day one. today is 9 Nov, day two. I just called UPS to try and get a better estimate of delivery time, and was told I can expect it by noon, 13 Nov. that will be seven days since it was shipped. NQS

On 10/18/2009, I was ordering the U550 but I hesitated to continue because the est. Shipping Date 12/02/2009 just blew away. I did some researches online and some people said they had gotten it 2 week after the order date which is pretty reasonable and realistic. On 10/21/2009, I called the Lenovo sales rep to see if they can get the laptop sooner than the est. date stated on its website. The ...

http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html 1. this is software that allows you to record the audio stream, but there is a cheaper way of getting a male to male 3.5 mm audio cable and route the headphone output to the line in input on your laptop. But you will lose the sound and mic in feature so that is not going to feasible. So alternatively you get an external usb or pcmcia sound ...

dsides, I got everything to work now, so you might want to give it a try although it does seem like you might have a hardware problem (have you tried just playing a file in rythmbox?). To get the mic to work I just needed to install linux-backports-modules-alsa-2.6.31-14-generic. That was it, everything just worked after that. My alsamixer options changed (I lost the option for front/internal ...

Hi xz4711, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
Just a reminder that this is a user-to-user help community, moderated by volunteers like me. Although employees do fly by from time to time, it is not a monitored Lenovo support channel.
Search and you will find this discussed at length in several places.

the "area", if you like, of both are virtually the same, it's mainly the tickness that's different. i've installed win7 first thing since i got it, and apart from a certain usb driver problem ( bsod on some thumbdrives - waiting for newer driver release), it's working brilliantly i choose the t400s because it's quite a bit lighter (~2.3kg vs ~1.8kg), the looks, the "i have the latest ...

My W700 screen has dim bottom corners, too, but because they're far from the centre of the screen and are often masked by the Windows taskbar, I seem to be able to live with them.
