I just found a $39 offer for Windows 7 so that I can install it on my MacBook Pro and offer an informed opinion about it. I'll definitely try the latest MSN Messenger with the latest Windows OS. Yeah, Apple Stores are pretty unhelpful (if not lame entirely) like that.

not sure why you're having trouble.
but just a few things you might want to try. restart the modem, them restart the base station 5 mins klater, and then restart your computer, followed by going thru the set up process again.
also, just to confirm the modem should be connected to the base station's wan port. the lan ports should be connected to any devices you want on a wired ...

Just wondering out loud but fashion design and graphic design
might be the same as in free hand drawings?
I might suggest Photoshop or illustrator ?
Unless she is looking for pre made designs that she can slightly change?
Hope this helps and maybe starts the thread with more suggestions.

Because MSN sucks?
Seriously, between Skype and iChat I don't even *care* about any other messaging system. People who are tied to MSN are not people I want to waste my time trying to bring them out of the technological backwater they've chosen to live in.

I can't say I'm that surprised, for an Apple store I've definitely noticed the Ottawa store's customer service is somewhat lacking, they seem to be understaffed.

First of all, quit PS.
Then, expand whatever files you downloaded until you find a "filename.plugin" file. The ".plugin" is the important part here. Place these in Applications>Adobe Photoshop CS3>Plug-ins and restart PS. Open an image, then click on Filter. Your newly installed filter(s) should show up at the bottom of the list.

Some surprising thoughts there, MCB.
According to many polls we are in the minority these days. Many want to rid Canada of our ties to the monarchy. I don't believe they should be running the show but I certainly have no problem with their current role. There aren't many that think like me anymore. I happen to like and believe in tradition. I don't have any problem being Canadian AND ...

It's just proprietary market engineering.
Apple says that the absolute cheapest you can run OSX is $1000 on a portable computer, then people who want to run a mac will pay $1000. If you have people doing it on $250 computers with ease, then people will not be willing to pay $1000 to run OSX anymore.
Heck, I'm considering a hacked netbook!

The "source" for that blog post is a blog post.
Not saying it won't happen like that, just saying pricing will be announced when it's announced.

I have the exact same problem, I though it was just me. The mbp almost seems too hot to sit on my lap, the fan doesn't seem to run very often and the battery lasts maybe 2hrs.
