Josh, I know you are biased toward DV Kitchen (understandable), but can you give me some pros and cons to ffmpeg over dv kitchen? Here is what I got so far... FFMPEGX -free! -open source -some minor bugs (but who doesn't) -batch encoding is rough (doesn't save where you want) -had some issues working with FCP stuff -creates unnecessary log, audio and video files randomly...

Try checking all selections, then Option R.

Preferences When choosing settings, apply to: • selected clips only If you choose this preference, whenever you choose an encoding recipe in the Encode Panel, or a remote folder in the Upload Panel, that choice will only be applied to selected clips in your Media List. (See "Selecting Multiple Clips in your Media List".) Leave preferences set to this if you often need to apply...

>I have FCP Studio 5.04 and a G5 That pretty much answers your question. Have you ever checked out Color? A much more powerful tool for that purpose. That's for tools. You need the right tools. A good audio set up to mix audio, calibrated monitors with the right software/hardware gear for finishing, just like you need good lighting on set, good props, set design, etc.. >must I give my ...

Hi Josh..DV kitchen's latest fan here...Now, just out of interest..why is there no mpeg 1 or 2 option in the conversion menu? Is it just that mpeg is outdated and simply not a good compression method? I don't do any uploading so my videos are mostly for delivery on disc to people with PC's. What should I say to my clients when they ask for mpeg 1? Should I tell them .wmv is better compression?

Hi all. I wanted to introduce myself to this crew here. I am a videographer just began doing some professional HDV work for about a year and would just want to introduce myself. I started with Wedding videography to sharpen my teeth in video editing. I recently got into Commercials on TV here locally and am going to move into Corporate Video production. Wedding videos are fantastic for me to get...

Do a search on Disk Painter and I talk quite a bit about my experiences with an R380 Epson using a continuous ink system. This is a cheap printer with very cheap ink that makes really nice DVDs. The Disk Painter is convenient and does pretty well, but the print quality is less than stellar, but to it's credit it's less hassle than the Epsons in that you don't have to fiddle with trays. To me ...

Does that mean that it's a copy of an original file? The problem I'm having reconnecting media seems to be only with clips that are aliases.

Hi all, lately I have problem. When editing in FCP, and try to raise the volume on the keyboard, I hit the raise button once, then I hear clicks on the external speaker, then huge error message on the screen and everything freezes, I need to restart. Then, when I open FCP, the window layout is resets itself to the standard. Also, when I open Garageband, I have the same situation. I ...

I need help so badly, $100 would be bargain if someone can tell me the solution. I'm surprised I can't find more on this, let alone "experts" who even know about the problem. I want to be able to play QT . mov "fast start" clips with IE on my website. Apparently most people don't realize that when using IE, the clip will not start playing until it is completely downloaded. When using every ...

Hi I'm using Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 and it won't properly recognise external devices through firewire. On log and capture it will control the device (play/forward etc) but no preview is available in log and capture window. In Video Playback Settings within Audio/Video Settings it at first said (Missing Apple Firewire PAL), but now it won't even see that. I have tried Refresh A/V Devices ...

Thank you, that helps a bit. I was going to print a test of the 2 formats on the PAL sequence to see how it looks. I'm not really touching the images other than cutting them, so the render is minimal anyways... I would need an external program I imagine if I were to transfer the NTSC to PAL ?
