Suddenly - Bad DV Kitchen...
Published (2009-12-19 18:51:00)
Well, re-tried the PNG and it also comes out very badly as a FLV. So, I would love to know is there a way to get the reference movie to work in FCP.

Hi Josh, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! It's amazing how a little extra code can make something work. I can now upgrade from the trial version and continue using your excellent software. Again, thanks for taking the time to fix this.

HD and SD footage on same tape
Published (2009-12-21 18:51:00)
I have a Canon xh-a1 and shot HD for my friends directing class. He used the same tape and shot on SD on his camcorder. My Canon does not recognize his SD footage. Is there a playback setting I'm missing for my camera to see both HD and SD footage? Ritchie

How is your PS3 connected to the A/V receiver? HDMI, component cables (red, green, blue cables), composite cables (red, white, yellow cables), or optical cable. Optical cable is the best way to hook up to get the best sound (if your A/V receiver accepts optical). _____________________ Sound Effects

this past january i moved from a top-en quad core G5 to a 2.8 octocore macpro.
the performance jump though noticeable was not life changing. so i cant imagine there being a world of diff between the macpro line.
what DID make a difference was:
1. adding 16 gigs of ram
2. move to eSATA drives instead of firewire800. that made THE most dramatic improvement ive ever seen in an upgrade ...

You could just upload the footage to an FTP site and they could download
it.

What camcorder does he have? If it was a Sony and he shot in DVCAM then you
won't be able to play that tape in your A1.

unless I am mistaken, The 2 inputs are for 1 left and 1 right channel.
hooking 2 mics to your camera will not produce 4 channels.

That 720x405 part should be updated. You don't resize, until you finally resize/crop and compress for web, which should be done in that same final encoding step, unless you plan to output a 720x405 quicktime movie. Resizing twice means you're unnecessarily resampling your source pixels twice, once to 720x405, and the second time to your required web format (which isn't very high quality to start ...

Hi Josh,
Yoyu seem to be an expert in these matters and i wondered if you could elaborate and maybe give me some more details on what PJPEG actually is as this has come up a few times in my reading/work lately and i cant seem to find out more on it.
I await your response.
Thanks

You are converting twice, which is degrading your image quality.
For exporting, try this:

Then read the DV Kitchen manual for more info.
You might also try using an x264 movie in a flash player, this movie shows how:

Just taking a guess here but maybe you have unlinked your footage in the timeline. It is SHIFT + L if I remember right. If it is unlinked and you click on the video to view in the viewer it will only pop up with the video and not the audio. The button for this is located right next to the SNAP button on the timeline that allows you to snap your footage. You may have pressed this one by mistake if...

Go to Easy Setup, select "DV NTSC". Check your camera settings, then try again.

or you can just on one picture, add a little bit of zoom... then put every clip into the time line for the 10 seconds default would be cool... or change to 8 seconds or something...
then just add a transition to each one...
that shouoldnt take too long
