I want to switch to VOIP unlimited plan and port my number. Quality and stability are key. No contract. Can port my number back to telco later (ATT Southwest). I searched the forums and no recent discussions on VOIP. What is your experience?

I am thinking about getting back into flight sims after a long time away, specifically the Warbirds online multiplayer game. To do it right, though, I'll need a joystick as the mouse and keyboard are just not going to cut it. Anyone have any good recommendations on a no-headaches-for-Mac joystick for a MacBook? I was thinking about a Saitek ST90 [ www.saitekusa.com ] or Aviator [ www....

My contract with Verizon is up and iPhone isn't an alternative as the ATT service where I live sucks. So I'm looking for a new smartphone that will sink with my Mac. The carrier can be either Verizon Or US Cellular. I realize that I'll probably have to use Missing Sync for Windows which is OK. So any suggestions for smartphones? Thanks, Kit

Our DVD player died, and we already have an HDTV (32-inch CRT 4:3 format 1080i). I was thinking about replacing the dead DVD player with a Blu-ray player, but it seems like they all still cost $300. Are there decent ones out there for less? If not, then it probably makes sense to buy a DVD player for $39, and by the time I actually NEED a blu-ray player for anything, the price will have dropped...

Good morning: My new bride and I share a simple Cat5 network linked to a switch that serves our wired and wireless needs (Linksys Wireless-G Router). File transfer is no problem and she can even capture and play my iTunes music library. We share the router. Alas, each of our offices is too far away to hear audio comments from one another. Suggestions on using the LAN for chat or audio ...

I just applied for my first mortgage and bingo..12 junk calls a day, to go along with the usual 3. The hangups on the machine I don't mind (and we've never answered the phone around here without monitoring the caller anyway) but when I'm checking in and have to sort through so many sales calls it's a drag. I'm looking for a hardware solution, not software. Googling turns up a few ...

I love this thing. [ www.sfbags.com ]. I wanted some scratch protection for the Touch when it's in my purse or backpack but nothing thick or bulky. This jacket fits snugly but comes out easily. And gives a nice wipe to the screen when I do remove it. The pocket is very stretchy and easily accommodates the ear phones and the cleaning cloth that came with the Touch. If anyone is in the market...

I paid $30 buck to have memory installed in my first mac, a 7200 and when I found out how easy it was to do (with that one and everyone I've had in between) I was kind of annoyed. I went to buy memory at best buy and they were telling me bring it in, you don't want to do this yourself. Well, it seems like I've heard that many times in the past so what do you say. The memory is way more expensive ...

Hi, Apparently it will solve my problem in converting mp4/mpg to FLV, but the guy who owns it has discontinued it. It was free as I understand, so you're not hurting anyone if you've got it and will send me a copy. He's apparently just overwhelmed and can't support it any longer. Please contact me via PM if you can help. Thanks.

I'm having a difficult time finding an affordable non TN type LCD monitor for my G4. I tried a 22" Dell, but the image/text quality is not that good (especially compared to our new 24" iMac). Looks like all of the Dells (and everyone else) below 24" are now using the TN technology. The logical answer is to get an Apple monitor, but they are out of my price range. Are there any lower cost ...

I have a fairly new 20” iMac: 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB of memory and running OS 10.5.5. Starting last night the letter t is typing itself ( over and over – ttttttttttttttttttt…) in all text boxes. In some cases, when I’m typing really fast the t is inserted between every other letter. Htatststltet! It’s happening in off line in Word documents and in Spotlight. Online the t's ...

My child's mini has a 60 Gig drive that is getting filled (lots of family pictures). I just bought a 200 Gig internal and would like to put it inside the mini. I also have another external in a case with a firewire port. Can I just place the new in the external case, drop everything from the internal to copy over and replace the internal with the new one? Is is that simple or do I need ...

My parents had me come over and to fix (shudder) their G5 mac mini. They can turn it on, no problem, but once they try to use any program (and the only programs they use are solitaire, word, mail, itunes and safari) the little basketball starts spinning, then quits after a few minutes but once you try to anything it starts again. They are using Leopard and have 512 mb of memory. The are hardly ...

I have a Macbook that I got about a year ago. Recently, I've been having problems with my wireless internet connection. I verified and repaired my permissions in disk utility this morning, but have not seen a noticeable change in how fast pages load or if they load at all. I don't know if there is another application I should try (like Disk Utility) or if I should "re-install" my wireless router....

My hard drive died, I think. I replaced it, but would still like to recover data from the original. Any modular way to test/ work on this and try and get it mounted?
