No rice in there. The only thing that is in there that wasn't there when I took off the head is that lil leaf. And I showed a close up pic so you can see the rim of the pistons. There is a major gap on two of the pistons between that and the cylinder wall. .

If you are going to tune it up quite a lot, you might be interested in a 95 M3. Has some good base power and I heard its easier to mess with. Im sure a lot of others on here will chime in soon with other thoughts

Don't have much personal experience with them, but the guys at the shop I work for over the summers and during breaks only notice them cracking more, and that's about it.
