Strat Deluxe
Published (2009-12-18 01:49:02)
Lumberjack, Many bikes specially the Stratoliner get some turbulence behind the windshield at highway speed. The low pressure behind the windshield and the air coming in under the windshield deflecting up cause a lot of air movement behind the windshield. In my case at 75MPH it was enough to move my glasses a little. This added to the fatigue at the end of the day. Not sure some of the short fairings take care of this. I went at first to a set...

Hi Dave Thanks for responding. I´m well familiar of Corbins products. I have mounted their saddlebacks. But its the original Yamaha Strato DeLux fairing i´m interested in. Best regards Viking

Have to smile when I read this. Rode from the mid-90's to 2009 without a windshield...never understood why you'd need one, and now I can't understand what took me so long to get one. Now I'm reading about fairings with the same question on mind... -=Mike

Has anyone attempted their own...

I just completed my valve job on my 1300 about 500 miles ago. I was not easy, but it was worth the trouble. Some instructions tell you to remove some of the radiator hoses, you can do it without removing the hoses, just makes it a little harder. The biggest problem is the lack of space, you will be working in very tight spots. Just remember to take your time, it will take a long time, it took me 6 hours. I will probably be faster the next...

Thanks, vStarDan! I was hoping not to remove the radiator hoses. I'm glad your bike runs better. I'm a firm believer in exactly what you said, "Do it yourself and you know it was done right." I like doing my own wrenching for that simple reason. Tim

HI Ziggy, Good you got to go to a show. One comes up in the 31 st January and 1 st February near here at the IX Center in Cleveland near Airport. I Usually try to make that one. Sounds like the Deluxe is still a little premature. Maybe the rep was too. I did notice my dealer does not have a Deluxe. I like the looks of those Harley's but to get one that performs with the Stratoliner is a bunch ...

jonk, I used to get my filters at NAPA. They had the right o rings at the time. Has been a while but might be worth a try. I believe Yamaha has the gasket set seperate. If I remember right the differance between Yamaha and NAPA filters was not real big three or four dollars but percentage wise it was big. For my Stratoliner I have been buying them from Yamaha so there is a record for my five ...

I understand this is often an indication you regulator is bad. You will ned a volt meter. Check the voltage with the motor runing rev it up a little. Measure the voltage accross the battery. If it is over 14.5 your regulator is probably bad. Dave

I have an '06...lots of torque, 24K/no wrench, hydraulic lifters, 70MPH uphill + 2-up (max capacity lbs) with no vibration and no lack of power. I demo'd a 1300...Roadstar was loads more comfortable, 1300 was a little more responsive on the throttle. Hope this helps...good luck. -=Mike
