Films like Twilight appeal to teen moviegoer audiences, which being part of, for an old fart like me, would be like being held a captive of al-Qaida, except not as pleasant.

Since Thanksgiving Day is the official start to the Christmas season and Santa Claus made his first appearance of the year, when I was a little kid I always thought that "Thanksgiving" was a time for all the kids to say THANKS to Santa Claus for GIVING them the toys they got for Christmas last year! Knowing that Santa went back to the North Pole immediately after delivering the toys on Christmas Eve, all the kids had to wait...

Mention Homestead to somebody & they'll think of the Homestead Grays or the Carnegie steel mills. More people should know about Maxine Sullivan, the great 1930's jazz/swing singer who was born & raised in Homestead, PA, just across the bridge from where I live in Pittsburgh. Sadly, altho' she was the genre's first great female vocal stylist, preceding even Peggy Lee, & also the first black artist to...

I still remember the World Book Encyclopedia salesman who sold my folks the
World Book and Childcraft. I wish I had those editions of Childcraft to
give to my granddaughters. Those volumes helped me learn about Einstein,
Edison, Watt, Westinghouse, Ghandi, Nathan Hale, Alexander Fleming, Winston
Churchill, Guy Fawkes Day, how milk is processed, how to make a periscope
among other many useful ...

Um, Hank here. As anyone thought about the fact that the bad guys can read, too, and that while they may hide out in caves, that doesn't mean they are
cavemen (no offense to the Geico cavemen) and incapable of understanding what they can read. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
I don't think I want to look like an Andorian, no offense to the Andorians.

You know what I want, the batman theme song. With the words in the begining...To the Batmobile, let's go! Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed.

I bought a church key when I was taking photography and developing prepackaged rolls of B&W film. I still keep it with my photography equipment, and we
have one on a magnet attached to the fridge. Mrs. Scorpio uses it primarily to open up cans of evaporated milk.
On a photo hike last month, I found a rusty can that had been opened with a church key. The can was too rusty to determine what ...

I just can't imagine someone having a TV dinner for Thanksgiving! If I was to have Thanksgiving just for myself, I would go out to
a restaurant or to a friend's house if invited. One would have to be extremely poor or financially strapped to turn to TV dinners for Thanksgiving or any
holiday meals!
