I love and enjoy a lot of movies from the 40s (even late 30s) on but this was the period in which filmmakers were allowed to push the envelope a lot further than they had before but still used believable story lines and characters and hadn't gotten to the point in which they overly relied upon CG, choppy film editing, beautiful actors, and an over-abundance of action to sell their movies....
