It's a hideous eyesore. Even more disturbing than this is that a golden opportunity to redevelop the disgusting block at 55th and 8th (i.e., McD's, Wendy's, et al.) is being passed over. In this regard, Futterman's website indicates that the POM at 944 8th is for rent.

It would be much more fun if the Moderators could assign signatures to some posters. Then you'd see things like: "Oh, here we go again..." "Please ignore all of my posts." "I'm much nicer in person." "Spelling is not my strong point." "Every third post from me will be an insult." "Before I get banned again, just let me say..."...

Breath of Life to Come to the Old Bronx Courthouse? A few days ago I received an email from a friend and colleague of Henry Weinstein, who is the owner of the Old Bronx Courthouse, about what my thoughts as well as the community at-large would be on what should be done with the Old Courthouse while keeping in mind that SELLING IS NOT AN OPTION. I capitalize this for emphasis as that is not up for discussion but I am opening this discussion to...

Stone cladding is another possibility.
Stone might be the most appropriate material for this obelisk's pedestal.
Too bad an elephant or something equally fanciful can't be inserted between
the two, it would save the design from absolute dullness.

Come on, guys...knock off the anti-car rhetoric, already. You can be in
favor of transit AND in favor of the car. The two are not mutually
exclusive. Congested trains do nobody any favors. Neither do congested
highways. We should invest in BOTH transportation options.

There are no immediate plans to allow signatures. As you have found out they are not permitted at the moment. If you wanted to request them to be enabled you must ask Edward.
It is, however, my personal opinion that they should never be enabled. One only needs to look at SSC to understand how untidy and cluttered they make the forum look and how they make it more difficult to read the thread...
