The produce of wine
Published (2009-12-02 08:13:00)
Wine is an alcoholic beverage typically made of fermented grape juice. The natural chemical balance of grapes is such that they can ferment without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes or other nutrients. Wine is produced by fermenting crushed grapes using various types of yeast. Yeast consumes the sugars found in the grapes and converts them into alcohol. Different varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts are used depending on the type of...

Does white wine go bad over time?
Published (2009-12-08 10:33:00)
Hello nothing to stop them. More often is adding grape concentrate to fruit wines to cut down amount of expensive fruit used. I used to make strawberry wine and found that the recipe 4 lbs of fruit was to much, it was to heavy and didn't filter very well, to thick, so i reduced to 3 lbs but decided not to use grape concentrate, which was the other option. But don't forget if they do it must be declared, sometimes the flavour comes...

Saxa Loquuntor
Published (2009-12-07 03:08:00)
I am not sure if I am posting in the correct area, but I am on what seems like an endless search for a particular wine. It is called Saxa Loquuntor Rioja... any vintage will do, but can anyone tell me where I can get my hands on this wine? I live in New York City and cannot find it anywhere here in the city or online. Any suggestions on where to look or perhaps private collections where I might find some? Thanks.

in the bible, we are not allowed to drink alcoholic drinks except for those who are (in pain) about to die, maybe for him/her not to feel the pain

You win the discussion with your boyfriend. Your mouth can only distinguish
4 flavors sweet, salty, sour and bitter (there is actually a 5th called
umami - but we would get too technical for here). The nose though can
distinguish up around 10,000 aromas. When you taste wine part of the
pleasure is to pick up scents of aromas that remind you of certain fruits
or other aromas apart from grapes, ...

I think you need something a little less acidic and medium bodied as opposed to full bodied.
Personally, I would try one of many Valpolicella wines. They're made with a blend of four different grapes in a region where they've been blending wines for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Some of the best in the world, and most very affordable.
Wines from Umbria in Italy would be a good...

I haven't been to Napa yet, but it's certainly on my dream list. As for the Joseph Phelps, I've heard of it, but sadly I haven't had the pleasure. Are you into Zin at all? Any favs? I've had alot of those.
