WINE & 2.6.32 Kernels

Wine calls upon more library functions than any other regular application, especially in sound and video. So it might actually be exposing a (serious) bug in the sound or video drivers.

For the record, my bug report regarding this issue can be found here: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20974 It was subsequently closed because it's actually a duplicate of an older bug that was marked as "fixed" but actually was not. It has now been re-opened. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17618

After a few seconds you should see your KDE/Gnome desktop again. Or you can press Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. Chip

Dwarf Therapist is a manager for popular indie game Dwarf Fortress. Running the latest beta of Wine on Ubuntu 9.10. Dwarf Fortress itself has the platinum rating, but Dwarf Therapist is not in the database. After looking around, I could not find any reference to the problem I am having, which, specifically, is that no text appears in the application. From what I can see, it is running and ...

I contacted support and told them how wonderful Quicken and wine work together. I also contacted a friend that does Quicken software. Maybe I'll get a job offer.

The installation of The Movies and the Stunts and Effects expansion works fine (and it automatically installs DirectX 9.0c and Windows Media Player 9).
However, on running the game, the intro movies show, and then the game crashes just before it hits the main menu.
As a test, I tried wine StarMaker.exe (which also crashes), and here's the output :

Team,
currently I try to get on Fedora12 (AMD64) Garmin Mapsource (supposed to work) installed. (wine 1.1.32)
The installer of Mapsource starts, but some controls (like contiune) seems to be missing.
Mapsource 6.13.x is on status platinum and I expected it to work, but well - no chance so far.
The same happened BTW with Fedora 11 on the i386 arch.
Any ideas ?...

Hello all. I recently installed Kings Bounty- Armoured Princess on my Ubuntu Karmic 64bit system. The install itself went fine and the game starts up perfectly, with all intro movies playing. However, on actually starting the game and attempting to click on one of the buildings to enter it the game freezes. Here is the terminal output:

Most if not all of the Userspace dll's already can build for windows if developers decide to use it.
Wined3d also works on windows. This is supported development by visualization software makers.
Sorry to say wine has a bug for bug policy and is not really a platform in it own right. Linking by default to wine dll's is not something that is recommended.
Really we don't ...

I really need help, I tried installing several times already and I'm getting the same problem no matter what I do.

I am using Wine under PCLinuxOS. I installed a program, Logger32, that ran under Wine, but which did not display dates correctly. I asked about this and was told to install winetricks and then to run dcom98, which I did. Now, it seems that none of my Windows programs runs. They show an hourglass in the system tray, then disappear. I tried reloading Wine to no avail, and then read that this...

I have built WINE 1.1.33 from source using the directions at posted at
http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX/Building
In particular I did the following:

Since I do not need any graphical libraries for the application that I wish to run under WINE everything runs fine for me using this ...
