Hmmm...I just replied to my original topic saying that "with the current situation, I can say that my laptop is clean" so going back to my original question: Is it possible to just install WIndows 7? Topic title was answer (Bluescreen before combofix finishes) because the culprit was the xxx.sys file. I just went thru to that .sys file before. I think it was the cause of why MBAM, ComboFix and some of my programs are not...

If those don't give you any leads, you could try running CHKDSK on the drive (although I don't expect any positive result). I haven't come across I/O errors very often. Check that the connection cable and USB port/s are functioning correctly. You can (should be able) to take the HDD out of the external case and with the correct cable, connect...

Hi Tony,
I suppose its effectiveness will prove itself over time. Im running Avira free on windows XP along with CCleaner and Malwarebytes. Avira seems to be lower on resources compared to my previous antvirus which was AVG free. Let us know how the new antivirus is coping.

To save me investigating, do you have only one set of audio connections or are there some built into the motherboard as well as on the ATI card?
Do your audio functions work? Can you say, stream music over the internet?

I don't see any immediate threats, but let's double check...
Print these instructions out.
NOTE. If any of the programs listed below refuse to run, try renaming executive file to something else; for instance, rename hijackthis.exe to scanner.exe
***VERY IMPORTANT! Make sure, you update Superantispyware, and Malwarebytes before running the scans.***
