I think the Cubs might get a useful piece in return for him. I doubt it'll be anything too significant, but they could pray for a bounceback guy like Burrell.

Well, I hope Scotty gets the payday he's looking for and has a good run with that team. If he doesn't find that money, however, I'd have no problem with him being back on our bench on '10.

Anything can happen but it would be hard for Beckham to switch to two different positions in less than two years time neither of which is the position he grew up playing. I think the Sox are going to go after a second baseman (could they possible now get involved in Figgins?) or a shortstop which would mean moving Ramirez back to second where he played very well in 2008. I don't want to see...

KW has put himself in a great position with this deal. The infield is locked up without adding all that much salary. He's got one hole in the outfield and one at DH or two holes in the outfield. Both of those positions should be easy to fill in free agency if he goes that route, as there's a buyers market (especially at DH).

With Teahen and Kotsay in the mix now, would that mean Pods isn't coming back? Regardless, we really needed another outfielder, so now we have one. Getz was a nice player and Fields was a throw-in, so we're even on this one, and if Teahan turns into a typical Sox reclamation project, like Dye, it could turn out very well. This sure makes it seem Kenny's going to do some heavy lifting this ...

I'm not seeing any other sources pop up with this info, but if true... WHY!?! I understand letting Fields go, but Getz? Now who fills out the IF? All for a guy with a career .749 OPS out of RF. And it's not like he's a fast guy either. Say it ain't so!
