Hi Steve, don't know about flights from the US but have a look at some of the pics on my site from my compact shots, not that good, for better ones have a look on www.rinieluykx.nl a lot better a good range of creatures and coral, depending on where you pick you should be able to guarantee yourself mantas too. I've seen them 3 out of 4 times i've been there. I'm going again in August and looking for a buddy so I don't...

Hi, How much vis are we talking about? Also curious what you consider shallow? 10' --30'? Sorry to be so anal but it does make a difference and folks could help you easier if they knew more about what you're trying to do. Filters might be an option or diffused strobes. Can you fill us in a little more? Steve --

Going aluminum isn't just about looks. It's tougher, better with condensation inside the housing, as well as having no reflection issues (unless you use the internal flash) and is small and easier to handle. Quite a few advantages which can affect the picture quality and location shooting. Looking at your site name, I'm assuming you shoot the cyclids in Lake Malawi? With a Fx, macro lens choice changes as you no longer have a...

QUOTE (jeremypayne @ Nov 19 2009, 05:42 PM) ... I don't know what the INON connector looks like... The Inon connector at the strobe end is quite fancy: it is held in place by a freely rotating shade that screws into the strobe housing, and the shade is definitely neccessary to prevent random light activating the very sensitive slave sensor... I just use a little heat-shrink to match my DSLR camera housing's sockets...

nice selection, i love silvertips, they are the nicest looking shark. what lens did you shoot that one with? My only nitpick would be suggesting a slower shutter speed for the downward looking shots such as the silver and the second shot of jacks in order to have them stand out more from a lighter blue --

Do they have to have rolling txt? I notice that you also shoot stills, can you put the titles together in photoshop and then import them as an image and just fade in fade out? Sorry I can't help you on iMovie as I've never used it.

Tracked down an answer for this: 40D wont fire non Canon strobes in live view. 50D will fire non Canon strobes in live view - as long as 'Silent mode' for live view is disabled. Ikelite strobes will work as they emulate Canon flashes, and of course optically fired strobes will work as they use the camera's own flash to fire rather than an electrical link. Bit obscure but may help ...

oskar, That lens has very few problems. I personally have bought and sold 4-5 of that lens and never had a bad one. I just bought one and sold it the next day last week. Plus I have one now, a friend has one I've borrowed, etc. It's an electronic device. In my opinion it either works or doesn't. So put it on your camera, shoot some pics and look them over on your LCD. dhaas...

I've been at KBR twice, once in October and another time November, so I have no personal experience with April diving in Lembeh Straits. But April is the beginning of the dry season in North Sulawesi, so it should be just fine. I personally don't think ten days of diving in the "muck capital of the world" is overkill, I personally prefer at least ten days with a private guide. KBR's ...

I understand your problem. 1-Puerta Galera is a (miserable except on Sunday) 3 hour drive from Manila, then a 1 hour boat ride. I like the Portifono on Little Sabang beach becaue I am an eat-sleep-dive type. It is a very nice hotel but not spa-class. Diving is about a C+, B-. 2-Tulamben on the North Coast of Bali is about a 3 hour trip from the airport. I prefer Tulamben werck divers ...

Hi James If you dont want anyone to grab it, dont load it up. Otherwise just watermark it on the bottom right hand corner with some text. You can also load up a bad res version to youtube so not really good for anyone to use. Post it here when you have it loaded up.

OK; so I started my first video editing attempts. Started with iMovie, but quickly saw it's limitations, particularly with regard to color adjustments. Went out and bought Final Cut Express, can't ever leave the Mac store without buying something. Any recommendations on how to teach myself this program; tuorials, books etc

Having been on the Nai'a and Shakti, I'd say you're looking at a vast difference in boats. The Nai'a is more luxurious and better equipped. Crewwise, both are enthusiastic and good. I think you'll definitely be happy on the Nai'a from a boat perspective, esp with the camera room. Smaller vs bigger boat dilemma I'll let you sort out yourself
