Oil Change on a '08 ER
Published (2009-11-23 14:29:00)
QUOTE(Lumi @ Nov 22 2009, 11:14 AM) Grab a owners manual and or a service manual, will help alot for oil changes and many small/big repairs in the future, its a must. Yeah I wish I could have got the owner's manual with my quad but I forgot to ask the previous owner when I picked it up. Do the download-able service manual and maintainance guide for the '06 in the "pinned" section above apply to my...

HRC Kit
Published (2009-11-26 22:15:00)
What kind of riding do you do? If your doing a lot of trail riding and don't plan on doing much else to the motor then ya it's a great kit but the cam on the 06+ hrc kits is great for bottom to mid power but kinda falls on it's face in the upper rpms. If you do a lot of riding in the upper rpm's for like dune riding then I'd go with a hotcam stage II, exhaust of your choice, cut the green wire and remove the airbox...

I like to be hands on at the dyno not that i didnt trust them with my bike but i like watching and helping just to learn and how the ending tune works out. I have been at the shop and seen other bikes dynoed and the customer wasnt present. I also like to hang out and get to know the people at the shop.Sandtrax are good people. Some shops might be different about...

Buy the right plug, you'll end up doing it any way in the long run. Trust me, you want to pay the $21 now instead of paying $6 and feel that your bike isn't working up to it's full performance then go back and pay $21 bringing you to a total of $27

I just got mine put on and tried it out at the dunes last weekend.... I Loved it. Prior to this 450 all my riding has been on sportbike..... street and track, so making the switch to the thumb throttle took a little extra brain power for me. With the twister its 2nd nature. However I think its a little pricy for what you get, Basicly a $60 mod by the time you get grips. Also the twist is a ...

I suggest HMF. I havent seen any benefits to the sparks system over the HMF. The sparks is just louder.

this is my son Chris's helmet cam video from a few weeks ago, his first time racing in the pro class and finished 5th out of 8 quads if you listen close at about the 540 mark he must have slapped his jewels on the tank because he lets out a pretty good groan, also sounds like he is trying to wear out the rev limiter !!! enjoy the vid and turn the volume way up, Steve http://www....

QUOTE(stut1313 @ Nov 23 2009, 07:04 PM) I may be trading for an 05 450r and was told by the current owner that it should never be kickstarted in gear or a cracked case could result. Is this true? I used to have an lt500r and kickstarted it in gear all the time. I can't imagine the Honda would be more risky to start. Any input is welcome. sometimes i kickstart mine in gear but i ...

I looked at the how-to's in this section and for the oil and tranny fluid changes and the procedure for the motor oil makes sense. However the one for the tranny fluid doesn't match up b/c the quad used is a kicker and I think is also older. All I know is that when I compared the pictures in the tranny-side how-to to my quad I got a little confused and I couldn't find a second drain plug ...

What is the very best tranny oils out there for the 450R???I here different types all the time but am sure some of it is related to price...I have been looking for a good tranny oil especially with these 06 and up weaker trannies...I use maxima 80w right now but to me it just isnt cutting it...

Lots and lots of cardio. Also no smoking, and during race season no drinking. This summer I ran 3.5 miles everyday and swam laps every other day. The swimming really helped I think because it expands your lung capacity so your not always trying to catch your breath and makes things like jogging easier. Also lifted weights. Low weight and high reps going from machine to machince in a cycle...
