Greetings all, let me preface this rant by letting you all know I'm 2/3 of the way through The China Study. So wifey goes for her annual pap/mamo, all is well and blood is drawn. Two weeks later follow up appointment to discus blood work. She comes home and says everything is ok he just said my calcium levels are low so I need more calcium What did he suggest I say. Oh you know he said eat more ...

I know, it seems like a long way off. So what better time to start thinking about who you're going to vote for, and why? At this early stage, too, it feels less heated, less emotional, so maybe the discussion can stay "level." What are your thoughts?

still confused about the difference between herbalism and homeopathy i found this page which tries to address the issue : Quote: As a homeopath I am often asked about herbs by patients who clearly think that homeopathy is a branch of herbalism nothing could be further from the truth. In this article I hope to clear up the confusion between the two therapies....

Mr Kat, that sneaky dude, arranged a trip to Chicago for our 2nd anniversary! I've never been there before, I can't wait! We're driving in Tuesday morning and leaving Wednesday evening, so there's not tons of time, but we want to pack a lot in. We're already drooling over the menus at Chicago Diner and Veggie Bite, is there anywhere else that's a "must eat"? What do we have to do while...

*bumpity bump* Now that the weather is cooling off, I'd like to start making more crockpotty things. Anyone have stew, soup or curry ideas? Something that can cook on low for 10 hours while I'm at work?

Hi, does anyone know where I can find vegan Dance Paws, or a vegan shoe with a similar style. Thanks p.s. I'm new to this site so if this isn't the appropriate discussion board for such a question, could you redirect me to the appropriate one? Thanks!

It's still in the tentative stages, but I think I'm coming to Seattle for a few months. I'm so excited at the thought I want to EXPLODE, I just had to say something hehe. (And yes yes, I know I'm never around any more!) Theres a chance if it all goes well I might be moving there for longer if I find a good job and all. Anyway, so I'll be super excited to meet up with the...

Could Your Dog Be a Blood Donor? At the dog park today, I picked up a pamphlet from a veterinary blood bank that's about 1/2 hour from us. We're going to take Shiva to get tested this week. If they like his blood, he can donate every eight weeks. Does anyone else do this?

Josh from Herbivore wrote a great post about the undertone of ageism in the vegan movement here . Quote: I understand that children are a contentious topic in our movement. I understand the argument that we should not be breeding because the planet cannot support more humans. I understand a lot of people are afraid of children. I understand there are a lot of ...

So I'm taking the plunge. Or at least, getting my swim trunks on. I've decided that next fall I'm going to go back to school full time, to finally get an undergraduate degree. I thought maybe we could use a thread around here where us " Non-Traditional Students" (that is, those of us past traditional college age who are going back to studying) could gripe, commiserate, celebrate, whatever. ...

I am not sure what this is. I have never heard of it before but I see it used in many recipies used as a cheese subsitute. I looked in Whole Foods the other day but could not find it. Where should I look for it?
