renault cambelt change
Published (2009-11-07 02:22:00)
Renault quoted my Mum ?340 to do the belt on a 51 plate 1.4 16v Clio... make of that what you will. Basic service should be about ?100 and a full service nearer the ?300 if it includes brake fluid etc. Ultimately, pick up the phone and start ringing round bearing in mind cheapest is usually far from best.

Dodge fuelling issue ?
Published (2009-11-07 23:01:00)
Possibly a block in the fuel line,I once had a piece of wood stick in the first bend on the fuel pipe above the tank on a Dodge(Kew built) Lorry.Mind you I had been using odd sticks and bits of wood as dipsticks as the fuel gauge did not work, but you never know.It worked OK when the tank was more than about half full.Jerry

I believe once a fob has previously been programmed to a car, then it can't then be programmed to another car.
In short, 2nd hand fobs can't be reprogrammed to work on another car.
Happy to be proved wrong. Just repeating what I've previously read on the subject.

Really sad to hear about you & your daughter's misfortune, there are some numpties around!
How much is "a lot of money" when compared to how much the car cost? Seriously though, it's possible the dash has to be coded, though I don't know for certain, nor why it would. You don't have to take it to the dealers though, anyone with an ECU code programmer & the know-how could do it if it needs ...

If you've spent £1000 in garage fees to get this repaired & it's not been done, then the garage is still at fault & should not have charged you for the work they've done as it hasn't sorted it. If they strip the head to change the EGR valve or reprogram the ECU, then that's their problem, not yours.
If your Astra is a 1.6SE 8 valve, look at the top sticky thread concerning what sounds like ...

the first problem is the thermostat, the second is probably a abs sensor, you
need to get a code read to see what is wrong with the engine and also which
abs sensor is at fault
