I hope a well written explaination can explain why this issue seems so similar to the one not 7 months ago. Anyone else experience the vpslink/spry website becoming a parked page half an hour before everything went down? it occured both in spry and vpslink. it was an overall light blue theme with a large square on the right and rectangular links on the left. I wish I made a screenshot but it didn't last more than a few minutes. by the...

Error When trying to do Yum Update
Published (2009-11-25 02:22:00)
SOLUTION FOUND - Problem was lack of system memory resources. This problem was caused by a lack of RAM (system memory resources). In my case mysqld was using too much memory based upon the my.cnf settings allocating too much memory. innodb_buffer_pool_size and key_buffer were both set too high. The lack of available physical memory was also causing fork and exec errors as well. The Solution was to free up system memory resources. In this case,...

DanL, You may be onto something. Top shows everything is fine and I'm not on Xen. But, I've run the command you suggested five times over the last few minutes. Looks like disk I/O is the problem. Backup..network? Boxes are the same just using different network/power or are you saying you're using a backup cluster of servers as well? I'm asking because ever since this outtage, I'm unable to SSH/Xen into my box and I'm trying to get a resolution. I already have a ticket placed, but the response was simply a confirmation they can't reach my box either. Confirmation != Help.

My VPS was down for 1.5 hours and had a few issues when it came up and was still have resource issues (lots of process stuck in IO wait) for hours - hit 25% in CPU wait at 1:10AM. /dev/null's permissions were also changed upon the reboot.
It would be great to get a detailed explanation for the outage and why the backup power failed again, as it did 7 months ago. Is the backup system tested (...

What Link are you on? Xen or OpenVZ?
Looks like your running out of memory.
Edit:
You might also want to remove the rpmforge repo and see if that helps.

It appears as though our SA's bounced the blog's virtual environment but Apache failed to start automatically - thank you for the heads-up (everything should be back in working order at this point).

Yes, you can transfer the discount from the old line of service to the new line of service when your old line of service is canceled - please create a billing ticket at the My.VPSLink.com Control Center to let our staff know what you plan to do.

The Linuxquestions.org thread suggests it's an issue with the IPv6 module being disabled. I can confirm, the IPv6 module appears disabled (or commended out anyway) on an OpenVZ, Debian Link6.
PHP Code:

Did we ever discuss my PHP Security Audit project?
I'm still working on a v2.0, though any thoughts or suggestions there would be appreciated as well

That depends on your current memory usage. How much ram is being used, now? Try increasing to something smaller, first, like 500. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try 1,000, etc..
