We can transfer your existing discount to your new VPS when you terminate service on the new VPS - just let our billing department know what you are doing and we can adjust your invoices and package pricing accordingly. (You might also include a link to this thread to explain) Addition: We do not presently offer a cloning feature, though it is slated for future development with an on-demand backup service.

It can be frustrating when you suspect reasons for performance related problems lie beyond your control and you are unable to troubleshoot. So, if you want to get an idea of how your disk i/o is performing on your node, compare to these from mine: Code: (link 4) $ time dd if=/dev/zero of=./1GB bs=1024 count=1024000; rm ./1GB 1024000+0 records in 1024000+0 records out 1048576000 bytes (1.0 GB) copied, 12.8043 s, 81.9 MB/s real 0m14.196s user...

Hi Dan, Could you please provide a bit more information? I have a VPSLink4, could I purchase a new one, and clone the existing one over to the new one? My original VPSLink4 is on discount, and I would like to continue with that one, so should I then clone existing one over the temp one, switch to temp, update existing, switch back to existing? Does that sound about right? Thanks, Bahadir

You missed our announcements on the sale? You are, of course, still eligible to receive the sale pricing.
We are treating the new pricing as any other promotion - you can get the new pricing by upgrading your plan or by trading-up billing cycles (if you are already on an annual or biennial billing cycle we can apply the sale pricing toward your next renewal).

Our OS templates have been updated and the centos-5 template will include CentOS 5.4 - wouldn't recommend manually updating with yum (particularly for OpenVZ).

You will need to have at least one active line of service at all times to keep your sites up and running - I would recommend picking up a second VPS and getting everything working the way you would like before updating the DNS record(s) for hosted domains over to the new VPS (you will want to keep the old VPS online until it stops receiving traffic for your domains, as well).

I second this request. It would be very nice to be able to boot the equivalent of a live CD so that I can restore a catastrophic backup. I want to be able to do an mkfs on my disk, then restore (over the net) the backup. As it is, I must rebuild from a template, which means that I must carefully clean the backup to not overwrite any existing files, even if they have the same content. This is ...

Our system administrators are aware of this issue and we are looking into a patch to address it in the future (we plan to administer the patch as part of our network-wide OpenVZ kernel upgrades).
In the meantime, this bug should not pose any threats to system stability or general VPS operations - while it will be an annoyance for log analysis, the alternative would be to move back to a ...

I've been using godaddy for a few years now without any issues. They give you complete control over your DNS.

Have you tried contacting the site that you're trying to connect to?
My interpretation of the error is that you're probably on their block list. Try again after 24 hours, failing which contact them and ask them.
