F5 ALT ES/VRC interaction
Published (2009-11-21 19:25:00)
I'm missing something here. The answer to this question should help my understanding: In the real world, under what circumstances would the pilot return to his filed altitude after a controller has assigned a new final altitude? In other words, if we were to consider extending the VATSIM network protocol to allow storage of a new final altitude in addition to the planned altitude, when would the planned altitude ever need to be referred...

ActiveSky itself also has a companion utility that lets you change the graphics sets used for clouds, which many choices. I think this same capability is integrated into AS in the FSX version (and perhaps in the most recent FS9 version, I still have 6.5).

The following from the manual Richard. SHIFT+R is the default FSX keyboard command to arm and disconnect the autothrottle. First press disengages, second press stops the red flashing PFD warning. On the PMDG menu there is an A/P override option where you can have your hardware throttle override the A/T. All while announcing your intentions via UNICOM. Do not use MSFS ATC. If there is no ATC, just treat the airport as an uncontrolled one. That said, if GND or TWR are not on, but APP/DEP is, then they will also will the role of...

Did some experiments with Karl online. F5 key in ES changes only the ALT for ES users. The FPL (.am) dialog box cruise altitude, if amendments are made there, every one including VRC and ES can see the changes. F8 everyone including VRC and ES can see the temp alt changes. Something is wrong with the F5 key.

I took my first VATSIM, controlled flight last night. It was quite the experience. I believe in doing things the hard way. My real life flight time consists of 20 minutes behind the stick of a Boeing-Stearman Model 75. Flown quite a bit of FS2004/FSX with the AI ATC, read the PRC over & over several times, and spent 2 hours on the ground listening to the VATSIM controllers. Parts of it were ...

I thought about a question when I was looking at fuel drainers in the Aircraft Spruce Pilot Shop magazine today. I know from my training that pilots in small GA aircraft sample fuel as a part of the preflight checklist. Does the fuel of airline fleet aircraft get sampled as well? I can't say that I've ever seen a pilot with a sampler cup walking around a 737 at the airport, but maybe I haven't ...
