If this is indeed the case, we may have found the problem. The procedure I saw didn't mention any way to measure control deflection in any way. It only said that, if it meets the "stops", it's correct. That's the part I'm not buying into. Maybe the procedure I saw was missing something. In all my emails to Van's aircraft, this was never mentioned. I don't care how the control surfaces are...

N8RV's paint will be gray on gray, with some black thrown in for good measure. Kinda smokey gray ... Plus, during the building process, the only place I could go to relax with a fine cee-gar when it got too cold to sit on the front porch was the shop. I was convinced that, after all the years of building, N8RV would probably smell faintly of cigar smoke. Thus, "Smokey". Fortunately, the only odors that I can pick out...

The easier route would definitely be to just remove a tank, install a flop tube and the few brackets needed, and close 'er back up. It really shouldn't be too bad.
Good luck.

There are a few good RV A&P's in the North GA area. I would cross that bridge when I got to it.
I had 160 hours when I started flying the -4. A 130 is not too far off. If your goal is only to learn aerobatics consider a dedicated aerobat. RV's seem to do most things well but can scare you and possible damage the aircraft if you do them wrong.

I have mine on the bottom outer edges of the sub panel just forward of the instrument panel. They've been there for over 16 years and I like them there. I lay the headsets on the wing while getting in and out. After getting in, the wires lay outboard of my leg. Works great for me.
If you put them in the angled side pieces, I think the plugs will be in the way of your legs getting in an out.

Note on drawing from Plane Power's website says :
"2. Install alternator per included drawing. Supply outside ram air to rear of alternator by the use of 1 scat tube or other suitable ducting."
Hope this helps...

... pretty basic, actually.
I prefer a hot engine and oil. After removing the lower cowl, slide a drain hose over the quick drain and place it in a bucket or something that will hold 6 quarts and push the drain valve up and rotate it to lock it.
Add more oil and you're done.
The best,

I did that a year ago, and as I recall (my memory is a tad fuzzy) there is a mark or hole of some kind at the location.
First I hung the flap and put in the push rod bearing on the inboard edge noting where it met the fuse. I then "interpolated" by looking at the flap actuator in the inside of the fuse, noting it's relation to the fuse bottom there. Between the two, it became clear where to ...

Ray,
Here are some dimensions measured off my RV-7A nosegear. I don't have the plane on the gear yet, so it was easy to get these. Note that mine is the new nosegear.
The diameter dimensions have been reduced from what my caliper measurement was by .007 on the diameter (.0035 per side) to account for the powder coating thickness*. Thus, these dimensions represent the bare metal....
