Our stupidest/funniest screw-ups
Published (2009-11-20 15:19:00)
Fortunately this one doesn't involve my own stupidity but that of my brother-in-law, whom I never much cared for. Back in the 80's he had one of those Pinto panel wagons with the little bubble windows in the back. I stopped over there one day to find him out in the driveway drilling holes in the bottom of his doors. I asked what he was doing and he told me that his doors keep filling up with water when it rains so he was fixing the...

The way I look at it if everyone out there knew about the strengths of the A-body Buick then it wouldn't be a secret anymore, would it?
This is the way I prefer it.
Chevy built cars for the masses, for a price. Buick built essentially the same car for the masses, for a higher price. As we all know the restoration price can ecsalate from there due to parts availability. Not near as common as ...

Definitely has GS emblems on it. The GS emblem placement is a tell tale clue if they were originally there or installed after the fact. The Riviera letters and the GS emblem should be on the same line. In other words the GS shouldnt dip below the line the Riviera letters are on.
That and look for the 3.42 gears. It should also have a "wide mouth" HD air cleaner assembly with the large oval...

OK, I still have the stock 1968 front suspension (except competition drag shocks) on my car. I am looking to upgrade this winter and I am curious as to what some of you guys are running on your race cars. This car is never driven on the street, it is strictly a race car only. I thought about tubular a-arms and a set of trick springs.
Just want to hear what some other people are running.

Hi, I just went through the same thing.
1969 - 1970 Skylark/GS/Regal/GN) power steering brackets - (2 PC) - this is two of the three 400/455 power steering brackets that are hard to find then all you need is the cast aluminum triangle bracket, which is the same on 350/400/455 engines. $69.00 from the the parts place repro.
I did find the triangle bracket on ebay for $21.00
Do not let ...

Happened not too far my house and the cops involved were from my town. It's unbelievable and sad- two dead kids for no reason.
The parents of one of the kids were out late and drove past a bad accident, not recognizing the crushed car. It wasn't until an officer knocked on their door that they knew their kid was in the accident and dead. By all accounts the the two teens were good kids. ...

No, but I need one as well. I installed the Eastwood GM 64 - 72 front disc
kit. The drums brakes and stock booster worked ok with the new motor but
once I converted, I really noticed a difference (in a bad way). I also
installed the vacuum canister with not much of a difference. I'll be
watching this thread .....

I used it for touchup on a truck on areas not seen,I found out the factory
clearcoat doesn't extend under the hood. I have a spot that looks nice and
it doesn't match.I liked the shine without having to spray twice. When I
paint the whole car I will spray the door jams with single stage and
trunk.then b/c the rest.

Do you have good valve stem seals installed on all 16? You do NOT want to restrict the oil flow IMHP. Also, do you have the metal pan gasket under the intake, because it is still needed if you used composite intake gaskets?
