My nephew told his mother, my sister last night that he has been in that processing center. He said that the Army policy is that Soldiers returning from a combat zone has to meet the mental health professionals a several intervals after their deployment. Just over a week ago he had such an occasion and that is the center he went to. He stated that both deploying and returning members are processed there. He his wife and Children were off post...

Gunnar, lets hope the Army doesn't get nuts and start placing new rules in order to hold back good soldiers and "protect" them. I feel we need to enforce the rules as they stand now, and stop this crazy political correctness...I guess I've said enohgh....still waiting word on my son's BB.

1. As many have already mentioned; the vast majority of appointments/rejections don't go out until March-April. So definitely apply to all the other colleges. Most don't require any payments for dorms and such until around April-May. So you'll have time. 2. Birthday during BCT; join the club. My son was 17 when he entered BCT. Turned 18 almost when BCT was over. No big deal. 3. Participating in football is unique because even...

Quote: Since its amendment in 2005, the Naval Academy Honor Concept - based on the statements above - has filled a 95-page book that explains what honor is and how honor violations are to be handled. Other service academies rely on honor codes, but the Naval Academy sets a higher standard. I have reread these interviews and articles multiple times now and still find myself depressed and appalled at what appears to be a bureaucratic...

Quote: Please quote the post so that I can see which one of my responses you are failing to comprehend or which one I wasn't clear. Quote: I would prefer a scholarship system that gave EVERY candidate the same opportunity to join the AF and go to a school that they could get accepted (as in the Navy & Army programs), instead of forcing well qualified "poorer" students to make a choice. This system may cost the...

Plebe Summer Typical Day
Published (2009-11-05 10:48:00)
Here's what I know -- I'm sure a parent or more recent mid can elaborate. Most days start with reveille at 0545. You then have PEP from 0600-0730. That is followed by quick shower and then morning meal formation and morning meal. The morning is filled with a series of evolutions that could include: marching, swimming, honor lectures, validation tests, sailing, damage control, obstacle course, shooting, confidence course, getting...

I am going out of my mind with the waiting since this is my number one top choice. The stress levels are high. I am trying to keep focused on my school work so I dont ask my mom to check the mail every day (2xs). Talk about counting down. Wishing each and everyone one of us all the luck. Hang in there all.

A group of Naval Academy graduates concerned about what they see as declining honor standards at their alma mater used the federal Freedom of Information Act to obtain more than 2,500 pages of case reports and related documents, which they shared with The Capital.

Jennyp-As I prepare mentally for perhaps the last football game of my sons life, I was struck by your words. We have been trying to wait patiently for word of our son's future (and trying to keep the tears at bay). So many of our friends say as they look through the lens of a "normal" college experience, "He'll be home!" If we try to explain that this is our last ____(you fill in the blank), ...

"Full ride" AFROTC scholarships directly out of high school are NOT common. Lesser amount scholarships are more common, but still amount to less than 50% of all scholarships in ROTC.
Years ago they were VERY common and the AF lost a ton of money with students taking the scholarships and then " bailing out" after a year. So the PTB shifted to a "let's see how serious they are first" ...

Airtran pulled out of Newark and airline X is really gouging us now. I just need a one way ticket for my son at Cmas, as he'll catch up w/ the team on his own for the team trip...Delta wants >$400 for one way! I called to ask them if this was a mistake. It wasn't. DS can get himself to a different airport and fly w/ airtran for $150 (still $50 more than what I expected to pay).

I have a grand son who has been offered a football scholarship at the academy. How does that work as to committments and such. Are these guys just like the other cadets and have some number of years to serve after graduation? Do they get paid in addition to receiving room and board?
