The rule of thumb for military standards is they will post you in the same theater. Now if you are in the UK, that typically works, but stateside could mean 2 different states. If you have an LOA, it should be pretty quick. USMA was faster than USNA two years ago for DS...interviews in late Oct, early Nov...USMA appt. came day after Thanksgiving...USNA came early January. It just depends on how many they have to look at when admission boards meet, how quickly MOC notifies academies, and how fast it's all matched up. Sit tight; should be soon.

I don't want to discourage any questions. Everyone has different priorities and some have Appointments, LOA's, etc already.
This is to MOST students/applicants in November. If you do NOT already have a letter that locks you in to your Academy, spending one minute on shoe polish is a minute you could be spending improving your grades/mile run/volunteer work but do not. It is your call.

I am a military wife and mother. You will have no problem meeting people while in the military. You will have a social life just as anyone else. You will need to be a little careful as there are people out there that will want to marry you to collect benefits.

Service Academies seem to count their applications a little differently. Some will count every person who opens the web page and submits their name and address as an "application," others will realistically state the number ...

A good idea - if there is one on this board I haven't found it yet! I hang out on a Disney Board as well and they have a link to one since everyone asks the same questions all the time. I have mastered MOC and LOA, but there are a lot of terms (especially when someone is discussing service later in the AF/Navy) that I have no idea of what they mean.

It is true that not all candidates who apply for a nomination interview receive that opportunity.

Well- actually Women are not medics in infantry units- and they are not walking the hills with Infantry companies despite the popular reporting to the contrary- nor are they in special forces units.

I would apply as soon as possible, and if the new scores are better, send them in immediatley. My son waited for his new PSAT scores last year, and his Sophomore ones were better, so he wished he hadn't waited.

A couple of things - if an admission rep suggests that you take the SAT's again then do it. Get the Blue SAT book and only study the math portion. spend some time taking practice tests. This will cost you a few bucks and a looonnngg Sat am but it shows perseverence to admissions. It shows them that you are willing to do what it takes to gain admission.
