Quote from: sevans on Yesterday at 08:00:01 PM I've got a job interview tomorrow for a better-than-I-could-ever-have-possibly-imagined freelance position! Cool! Good Luck. Ian's with Lloyds.... What I did was called up the Lloyds 0845 number and spoke to a customer service person saying I wanted to open a current account and my husband banks with them. They then set up an appointment with the branch manager for a few days later. I had to bring in my passport and my marriage certificate (which I forgot... ) and Ian (to verify I in fact live with him). If Mark's been...

I was a big weenie when I first moved over, but when you realize that it's dark by 4pm it's kind of impossible to NOT walk around in the dark by yourself, especially if you're taking a class or working! The driving thing is a huge adjustment and it's not one I've fully made after 3 years of living without a car. I miss mine very much!

Quote from: rynn_aka_rae on Yesterday at 10:23:02 PM There is, apparently, a growing issue of UK students who cannot find places in university because international students are, again apparently, hogging more and more spots. Why not? Students are huge cash crops for universities Also, many, can't say all, international students in the UK are wealthy or come from wealthy families. As an international student, I'm faced with...

Quote from: genau on Yesterday at 05:36:27 PM found a really cute top that I wanted for Hogmanay (oops... Silvester, as we will be in Germany for New Years Eve!) but i noticed a rip in it when i was trying it on. I pointed it out to the assistant and she sold me this £35 top for £16.00 !!! I've just spent 10 minutes with a needle & thread, and it's now fixed! Cool!

That's just reminded me: Buying a bar of dairy milk, getting it home, stashing it away saving it for a "quiet moment", settling down to enjoy said dairy milk, only to find I picked the wrong damn bar off the shelf and it's fruit and nut

We would never ever advise anyone to do that. You are right that you need to be prepared for questioning. I am not an expert in this area at all and am sure with more knowledge and personal experience will answer soon...

What about when applying for visa once you are in the UK (i.e- ILR/Probationary Citizenship, etc.)? Will the American still pay more than the Tanzanian because of what their nationality is even though they are both in the UK and therefore should have similar access to opportunity/jobs/funds?
