Do you have a Pro subscription? Edit -> I don't think a Pro subscription is required for just skins (it is for themes tho). You should be able to see the new skins under Preferences -> Skins -> Custom Windows.

yeah, i think so too.... looks like it. they should develop a 4.1 that functions like a 4.1 but LOOKS like a 3.1 . ...but this is kind of a minor thing, is it not? can't a line or two of code be added in the 'discovery' mechanism when trillian sends the login data to msn servers? (or can whatever that is working right in the current versions be carried over/translated/made interopable to work in 3.1 - since those who code...

To set away on all services, click the trillian logo to the left of "ONLINE" on your contact list and pick "away" and type your message and hit enter.

Status changes are not done in the connection manager, and I don't believe they ever were. Except maybe on the away page of the preferences, you might be able to set a pre-saved message from there, but that certainly is ...

Preferences/Identities & Connections then select you MSN/Live account and click the settings tab, then go to the Miscellaneous section and look for the section that says: "Override my display name for this account with:". Fill in the name you want to use then close preferences.

Preferences > Chat > Miscellaneous Options (at the bottom)
Check the box that says 'Open links in a new browser window'. That should do the trick.
