You will probably find a rubber strip on the outside edge of the windshield. It's designed to cover up the screws and pretty things up. Pull it back and you will see where the screws hold the windshield to the deck. You can then assess why the screws came loose. I'd fill the old holes, re-drill the windshield and deck and screw it down again. Sound the deck to make sure it's not soft. Get a survey before you buy.

rodeo, u put a hitch on the wife's new car yet? hahahha since u gave up ur trusty tow vehicle for it i think its only fair right? yeah, that silverado was an ill planned purchase...more of an impulse item...... i had a friend back in HS that had an awesome mastercraft they pulled out of lake arlington all the time with a 91 (was new then) GMC sierra extended cab V6/5speed......never knew of any difficulties there but that ramp is longer...

You'll get differing opinions on the FWC issue; some around here seem to think that your iron block will dissolve in salt water. All I can tell you is that I have been running raw water cooled i/o's in salt and brackish environments for almost 20 years (though I have not wetslipped them in saltwater). (I ran and slipped ob's in saltwater for years before that). With regular flushing, I have never had a salt/corrosion-related...

Offer accepted on the cheaper 262.. I'm having a survey next week and if everything goes to plan pick it up the following weekend... Sounds like a WD hitch is the way to go. It looks like this boat has an aluminium trailer which i think.. checking.. weighs less than 1500. so boat + trailer should be about 7000. That gives me 900 pounds to play with on fluids and gear. Tight i know but i think it's going to work out....

Back to RECOMENTED towing capacity,it is recommended not mandatory. That being said, the number given is for total towed weight, BUT it only allows for a 150# driver. So if you weigh 200, wife 100, 3 teenagers are 100, 125, 150, and lab is 75#, RECOMMENDED rating is reduced by 600 pounds. If other "stuff" in the truck is 400 pounds, easy to do, towing rating is reduce a total of 1000#. The other thing tow rating do not take into...

I don't think the fuel consumption is much different. It takes a given amount of HP to move a given boat/load at a given speed; and it takes a given amount of fuel (plus or minus a few percent) to make a given amount of HP. Longevity should be better with the big block though. That's why I opted for my 454. They killed the 454 because GM replaced it with the 496. -------------------- "...

Yes, it saves springs and tires. You should have bearings repacked to prevent any water from collecting on them and flush the brake system for the same reason. You will be surprized at how nasty the fluid in the wheel cylinders is after just one season. Be sure to shade the tires with something to prevent UV weather checking.

Not too many years ago, Dodge wouldn't sell the highest power Cummins with the automatic. You had to get the manual to get the most power. And that 6sp should be a ZF transmission, which GM used as well. Nothing inherently wrong with it, as far as I know. As far as it jerking in between shifts, that depends on how good you are at shifting. -------------------- Formerly a 1997 Chaparral ...

lots. and then its available as a tow package on the ones that it doesnt come standard. depends on what u want, just look at the manuf'ers web sites. plus, u have a 2000 explorer so i doubt u are doing any super heavy towing anyway. so whatever u get if its a real truck or bigger suv should have plenty of stuff to tow whatever it is u tow with that 'sploder. -------------------- 2006 ...

Yep, I rotate trailer tires each spring. All my trailers (utility, flatbed, boat; tandem and single axle). Moving a tire from one side to the other, changes the direction of rotation. That is desirable, per my tire dealer. I won't tell you how long my tires last, nobody believes it anyhow. -------------------- The Old Goat

Don't compare a 19' Stingray with what I assume is a 20' Four Winns, at all. Stingrays are built exclusively for speed, and speed only. They will outrun any similiar sized boat with the same HP. So throw that out the window, right away. 50mph would be the absolute most you could expect. But I kind of doubt you'll actually get there. -------------------- Formerly a 1997 Chaparral 2135 ...

I found the best way to apply was to lay the cover down over my clean garage floor, and mist it on with the garage door closed. Otherwise the wind will carry it away. Two light coats are better than one. -------------------- 2004 Four Winns 268 Vista

I tow this Regal around quite a bit. It is 34' 10" loa and 11'6" wide. The trailer is right at 12' wide. Towed weight is about 17,500 lbs. The trailer is extra long to accomodate two jet ski bunks ahead of the boat. The bow stop adjusts about a foot in or out to change tongue weight if jet skis are on the trailer or not. It has electric brakes on all wheels, but if doing over, electric ...
