That's the thing about the breakout game. You'll get lots of failures because they're in fact whipsaws BUT the good ones will soar... snag is, you need to learn how to manage the trade... the old " cut your losses, let profits run" is so important here.

If you just want to be able to code up your ideas quickly and see if how they work, definitely choose C#. It is much more flexible, has much better support for integration with other systems, and will be easier for you to use.
If however you'd like to actually become a good programmer and make quality software, I'd personally recommend C++ since you get a better understanding and appreciation...

First of all, I hope you realise that there is a lot more to trading than finding S/R levels and trading them. If you would like to know more send me a message, but please don't go trading anything just yet,

it just means they add their extra spread on top of the market spread, which ends up being a whole load of spread, and makes it more expensive than normal futures DMA. No tax on winnings with SB , but it's much harder to make a profit in the first place when the effective commission may be five times higher. $20 rt on YM, for instance.

I am not suggesting your reasoning regarding the correlations is wrong here and now... I just think you need to be aware of the fact that the correlation you're currently observing doesn't have to hold in the future. The dollar and gold can both sell off. Effectively, there's no minimum. Oanda, for example, has no predefined or minimum trades sizes, so you can literally trade a single USD, EUR, JPY, etc. That means you can trade with only a few quid in your account.
