Dodds was another guy (nice guy, actually) who in the eyes of some turned his back on the sport that had gotten him to where he was when he became an AD.

Comparing great athletes from different eras is a subjective exercise. You can only go by what they did against their peers in the events/sports they contested at the time. All else is conjecture. Certainly, the PBs of old time athletes have been surpassed many times but when they did it, they were the best around. Thorpe showed great versatility at a high level for his time.. To repeat myself, Thorpe gets my vote over Lewis as the better...

It matters not what 'we' think, it's the IAAF that decides records and they have ratified 10.49. These other cases are entirely different. The...

Congrats to both. Bolt was a no-brainer. Sanya won for overall excellence and dominance, although she didn't go undefeated or set any American or World Records.

100y is 8.56m short of 100m
Bolt was traveling at about .084mps in that last 10m, so the math sez
8.77 + .02
Hand-time could have easily been 8.5!

....was born in Panama but his parents were from Jamaica. So that makes him the first Olympic 100m medalist (took bronze in both sprints) with ties to the Caribbean. In that race (1948) E.McDonald Bailey from Trinidad (actually representing GB) would take 6th. In the 200m Jamaicans Herb McKenley and Les Laing would take 4th/6th. That's where it started as far as the Caribbean is concerned. ...

This is pure ignorant drizzle. That columnist doesn't have a clue and I am surprised Manning said Lewis was shifting gears five or six times and still speeding up at the end of 100m. She knows better than that, unless he was running an exibition against elementary school kids.

John Nuttall competed in the 1996 5000m representing Great Britain. I'm pretty sure it's the same guy.
There is a Zakariah Barie representing Tanzania at the 1980 and 1984 Olympics in the 5 and 10. Probably the same guy.
Sean Dollman represented Ireland at the 1992 and 1996 games in the 10000.

Did you know that people park on the driveway and drive on the parkway?
OK, OK, real fact: Airplane 'black boxes' are really orange. They are referred to as black because they are typically that color when found in the charred remains of the crash.

Up next the Baltimore Ravens. IN....Baltimore. The following week their big division rival (suddenly) the Houston Texans...IN...Houston. We are looking at Indy in back to back road games vs a Houston team in back to back home games. Big advantage Texans! We could see it right there in Houston. If they get by that two week road trek unbeaten they should run the table. They probably won't lose at...

As always, there are a number of local favorites who deserving candidates for the Heisman but winner will be Colt McCoy (assuming Texas goes undefeated, which I am predicting) He just missed last year and Tebow already has his.
