The i7's wants RAM voltage of 1.5 or less. So it's dropping it down to the next stable level. the i7's also have a feature called Turbo Mode that effectively overclocks a single core if the remaining cores are not in heavy use.

Athlon 3400+ 2.0 ghz (OC causes random restarts), Radeon x700, 1GB DDR466 RAM. My dad'd be willing to buy another motherboard. His main concern right now is keeping any upgrades I ask for under $80, and at that rate I can only get a Sempron processor.

Results Summary: Our parallel implementation of ray-casting delivers close to 5.8x performance improvement on quad-core Nehalem over an optimized scalar baseline version running on a single core Harpertown. This enables us to render a large 750x750x1000 dataset in 2.5 seconds. In comparison, our optimized Nvidia GTX280 implementation achieves from 5x to 8x speed-up over the scalar baseline. In addition, we show, via detailed performance...

It has probably been disabled in Software/Firmware, you will need to phone
menu access code (google it) and then your sublock code to access the tools
panel. Without those you're likely stuck. Unless it's a glitch that just a
re-install would fix.

Have you looked at this board as well?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128398
Compare the 2, but the Gigabyte is about 15-20 cheaper after a rebate and
looks to be close to the same thing. But double check it though. However,
my current board is a Gigabyte and has been running strong close to 2
years, very few complaints with it. Also, do you plan to do crossfire or
the like? If ...

You need a BlueTooth radio device to plug into your PC first.
If it already has it, then you would just set it up as a serial connection
(or USB depending on software), and then transfer.
If you don't have one then get one, the Belkin is my current fav since it's
2.1 compatible, and works with Win2K, XP, Vista, WIn7, Server 2003, 2008,
and OSX right out of the box. The Kensington and Rocketfish...

difference was something like $100 but for $350 its not worth it since as i

Interesting post, thanks for sharing.
The Alpha was a tremendously innovative design - unfortunately it was yet
another COUNTER example to the old saying: "If you build a better
mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door"...

Yeah, at this rate Intel will be bankrupt by the end of the year and Phenom
II chips will be selling for $2,500 apiece.

Good find, Sincreator - thanks.
I too would be interested in seeing how the P2-965 and i920 would do both
oc'd and with multiple top-end GPUs, although I'd personally be happy with
just one 5870 :D .

nVid might do a GPU Fermi chip, and a CGPU Fermi chip. Either way, both
will cost a premium.

I just wanted to offer you my thanks and support for all that you have
exposed.
Deep down I really truly believe that D Free is really just a sole prop.
with a crazy idea, a easy marketing scheme, and immaturity towards business
and honesty.
A lie to protect a lie to protect a lie.
Unfortunately he did it to the wrong person =-)...

the L5520 has the lowest power consumption but everything else is the same
with the three procs
if i were u i would go with the E5530 for that little boost in clockspeed
but if power is an issue iwould go for the L5520
Actually the difference in Clockspeed is negligible so it is up to u
between the L5520 or the E5530

flight sim is extremely cpu intensive i've seen it max out a dual xeon

Uhh.... I'd say it's pretty much your call but I'd go with the 955 simply
because the AM3 will have a 6core on it in the future and with intel you
never know about platform longevity. Plus, ya know... !!SuPpOrT aMd!!
