The monies spent for and against likely had an effect while not being a strong reason (let alone The Reason) blacks came out in droves that election or voted disproportionately for Prop 8. The monies a big reason. Besides the most expensive ad market in the country they have staff, outreach, and all the overhead involved in running amajor campaign like this. Money, especially in California is the most important resource in a statewide...

GOPers are trumpeting their success in NJ and VA to high heaven but the only message that the American people are hearing is that rightwingism was soundly rejected in NY's 23rd congressional district; that the GOPer party is splintered, fractured, and maybe permanently broken. One cannot deny the nation-wide ideological split that the election results in the 23rd congressional district exposed. Humpty Dumbty suffered a great fall in the...

Yeah the Inquisition was all about Roman Society. What a laugh. I was talking about the beginning of Christianity within the context of the Roman Empire, what are you talking about? In any case, with the exception of final execution - when the accused was turned over to the Civil Authorities - who did the Inquisition execute?

>>I would think the number of chemicals in the form of fertilizers, pesticides, weed killers, etc., would be far more harmful that decaying golf balls.>> And you'd be more right than wrong. The unvarnished truth is that golf courses themselves (IMO) have no place existing where they can impact fisheries. But the thing is, I'm trying here not to be a Nazi and call for the elimination of the game, despite...

GOP: The Incredible Shrinking Party

Bummer Sarge, get used to it. Ever since the invasion of Iraq, if you didn't support Bush or the invasion, the Right responded with you hated America. Well Sarge, we are still at war (mainly due to Bush's inability to get the jobs done) and if you don't support the President, why you must hate America.

I think it's just part of the cycle of politics. Today the GOP is "out," but that won't last forever. I predict that sometime in 10-20 years,
they will regain control of Congress, regardless. Those people who are not particularly partisan will vote the Dems out after the Dems get arrogant enough and
piss off enough people, just as the GOPers did in recent years.
To me, the GOP does seem to ...

Andrew Sullivan on John Frum's review of "Palin's" 400 page book.
He reveals the contours of the next Republican presidential campaign, in which Palin will lead a cohort of Beck and Limbaugh dittoheads on a platform of a
holy war in the Middle East, the restitution of torture as a core American value, and tax cuts in the face of massive and mounting debt. Here's what we
will face in ...
