Jury Duty?
Published (2009-11-07 20:48:00)
If it was me, I would just say I have a medical condition that requires I drink nearly constantly and that I eat frequently. If they need proof of that, I'm sure your doctor would write a letter. I wouldn't be embarrassed about it. They may excuse you. If you do have to do jury duty, I guess I would take some snacks in your purse, like protein bars, nuts, whatever. And a bottle of water. Where's my vice?
Published (2009-11-07 12:42:00)
Hi Deborah - good for you kicking the vices to the curb. Smoking is especially bad for you and you'll only feel better after giving it up! Imagine a few months from now when you can really "taste" your food because your tongue is not coated with nicotine and you are not coughing from the irritation to your lungs. Yes, I was a smoker and kicked the 2 packs a day habit cold turkey many years ago. Its difficult but...

God you are pale, you are transparent. Glad you are out enjoying life. Isn't having the puppy like having another kid? It keeps my mom superbusy, but gives her a reason to get out and walk and such.

Shorts?
Published (2009-11-07 07:03:00)
Honestly, I wore shorts just a handful times. It had to be at least 90 degrees or I would freeze my ass off. Needless to say I spent most of my summer in jeans or capris still minus the sweating.

it is too early to tell whether I will regret having had GB surgery. I can tell you that I have second guessed myself a lot, from the time I first considered the surgery, during horrendous gas pains, as I lean over the sink and throw up-again, each day, perhaps nearly every hour, I question this process and wonder if my life will return to "normal" in the sense of feeling good and eating well. But, I will tell you that there...

This looks really good with one major exception..
(I love the fit & fresh stuff, btw!)
The pro-shots.. are these the little 3 oz shots of collegen protein? See this thread for info...
Is all protein created equal?
It does not have the amino acids needed to process that time of protein so it pretty much useless. If you can return them, I would suggest that you do so.
The rest ...

I eat approximately every 2 hours.
But I don't wing it. That's a recipe for disaster.
I plan my daily menu beforehand and then just split it up to eat 6-8 times a day.
It might be a reasonable sized meal or it might be something like a piece of cheese and some fruit.

I do still use chewables bariatric vitamins. I also use some gelcaps of other supplements, that I suck a bit to soften before swallowing.. (umm..some of them don't have great flavor, lol)
And I take a couple tablets that are on the small side that I just swallow.
For me, I don't like the bloated feeling I get when I drink to swallow the reg. vitamins so I went back to chewables. It just ...

Where is everyone at? Today is my first full day home from the hospital. I got up and took a shower, but got really dizzy. I'm guessing that's normal since I've been on liquids for awhile now. I'm getting stomach cramps, but I'm guessing that's the gas starting to leave my body because I am gassy. Really tired today. This is definately harder than my lapband recovery was.

I'm sorry I botched this up...but I tried. My mistake was making a thread called November Staplers. Then I made a November 2009 Staplers thread, but couldn't figure out how to get rid of the original thread. I asked the moderator to delete this thread and leave the new one I made, but the November 2009 Staplers thread was deleted instead. I guess we're stuck with this one. Let's just use it,...

What an amazing difference alreaddy! You must be feeling great! You look great! Expect stalls. You have had such amazing success so far but you're probably going to need to catch up and readjust at some point. It is all part of the process but it restarts again. Good for you for doing so well. I was not allowed to have crackers until about eight weeks out, when I was moved off soft foods to a regular diet. But some doctors have them on their list of foods for the soft food stage. Which makes no sense to me, really. They aren't soft. They are hard and crunchy.
But anyway. I don't think a few crackers on occasion will cause a problem. They are high in carbs and have little ...

It did to me at first. I would say the first month or so was rough. I yelled at him ALOT. But then once I realized it was not his fault I could no longer eat that way I got past it. It's still a little frustrating sometimes. It's tough, don't get me wrong!
I was telling Kel earlier I wish they could operate on our brains because the foodie in me will never die. I will always love food ...

Ohhhh Terri, I'm soooo glad to hear you're doing sooo well. I've been getting discouraged (scared?) hearing all the problems on here and it's sooo good to hear a good after-surgery post. I bet attitude has so much to do with it.
Keep those good posts coming

You have a boyfriend and a fiancee?
Yeah, i'm totally confused here. Personally I've thought you jumped into this WLS blind to the emotional changes and took it with a grain of salt (which isn't good). I've seen your FB and such, with the partying, the drinking, the guys. It's not something I would do, but that is me.
I don't understand much of your story, but get rid of the all the ...

I was only off of work for a week. But, then I work at a desk all day, didn't have any complications from surgery and felt fantastic! It was easy for me to keep up with my meals and water intake. I don't know how hard it would be for you, since you're on your feet all day, though.

Well, I NEVER had this problem before surgery. NEVER. Yeah, I bought some lube, but it's kind of a pain to use it.
