Yes. Normally a volume image will mount without issue. Trust me. DiskWarrior is well worth the cost and will come to your rescue more often than you think.

Las_Vegas is absolutely right, there might very well be a software explanation of the problem, and I shouldn't have gone straight to a hardware solution. Trevor

Do you own or can you borrow an adapter (mini-VGA, I think) to see whether the iBook will display images on another monitor? The symptoms you're describing suggest problems deeper than the screen. Although it's not a troubleshooting technique, you might want to borrow a second Mac with a Firewire port and try to use target disk mode to salvage what you can.

You are having problems with your MacBook's memory. Return it to wherever you bought it for a replacement.

There are two possibilities. The first is that the internal antenna is not connected properly. Open up your PowerMac G5 again and find the antenna connector and push it into the Airport card. It uses more force than you might think necessary, and several people have reported their antenna connected when it is in fact not actually connected, just kind of in the connector slot.
The second ...

It means that the SUID setting is different than what it thinks it should have, but it did not do anything with it. You can usually ignore the SUID messages - see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448

Actually, it is worse. I have now found that Quick Look is also missing - both from context menus and from Finder.

I've used it, though it's been a while now, around a year. This means I haven't used the latest version which just came out. I thought it worked fine, and I don't recall any issues. The key, above all else, is to have lots of memory, at least 2 GB, preferably more.

This can be annoying, especially on 13" screens. I usually put the Dock on one side to get around it.

There should be no User->Application list. All applications belong in the HD->Applications folder. If you've removed or the /Applications (in the Hard drive), you've removed all of your applications and utilities. The sidebar icons are not the real thing, but aliases to the real thing as the dock items are.

Was the drive formatted using GUID? If not, you have no EFI partition. There are detailed procedures on the OSX86 Project for building a multi-boot system. BTW: Neither MacOS nor Ubuntu require a Swap partition any longer. It's a much simpler process to let them handle this the new way.

I've just discoverd some things:
In Disk Utility the image information at the bottom of the window says: Partition Map Scheme: No partition map
Why is that? Here i have to notice that my drive is MBR partitioned
And since i cant mount the image (propably because it cant find any partitions in it) i did the following:
sudo hdiutil attach /Volumes/MACCLN/MACOSX.DMG -nomount...
