RSPCA actually stands for Really Supporting People's Cruelty to Animals I saw the piece in the paper and thought of the useual crap of the sheep is alive and cute so takes on a persona that people like and feel for. It's a shame that the shopping trolley is not the worse thing that the poor sheep will go through in it's life

That's funny about the cats - bet if you made it specially for them they'd turn their noses up though I think the rice in Steph's recipe may serve as glue. As I think we discussed before I sometimes add a tbsp of margarine to things instead of the eggs and that does seem to hold them together a bit, though not as much as eggs do. If you can locate fake cheese that can be cooked and that melts, adding some of that may help too....

Just my 2c FWIW. At my wedding, the photographer NEVER took a photo of just the 2 of us. We kept wondering when he would but whenever we asked him, all he said was "later, later, let me get this table first". When we inquired about this omission later on when we saw the proofs, all he said was "You never told me you wanted that shot" HUH??? A wedding photographer not taking a photo of just the bride...

Some essay books are pretty good because you get to pick and mix with the parts of their theories.
If anybody can recommend any good green or anarchist books, would love to hear.

Hi Jenny, funny you posted this, as I just copied a recipie for a lentil loaf from some internet site the other day, it got good reviews from people who made it, but I can not attest to how good it is, as I've not yet made it, maybe you should test it before christmas to see if it is as good as they said! (sorry yours turned out mushy, but at least the felines enjoyed it)

my local co-op isn't very good - not much vegan stuff - and some of the stuff is quite pricey. if local shops want to keep local trade from large supermarkets, they should be more flexible in their pricing imo.
prices are important for me at the moment.

I enjoyed this. I have always wanted to go to France (largely because I have takedn 5 years of the French language), and my bf and I were just discussing how it seemed like it would be rather hard for vegans there. So thanks for the info, even though it will probably be a couple years before we can make it out there.

Re: How to tell the family
If you don't want to make a big deal about it just get your food, when they ask why you don't have turkey just casually say "oh, I'm not eating meat anymore" and leave it at that. If they ask about desert or something with dairy just say "yeah, I gave that up too". Hopefully they won't pester you too much....

Exciting news biscuit fans, I just emailed Fox's to enquire about their dark chocolate "chunkie" cookies, which claim that they "contain" (not "may contain") Cows Milk.
The reply i got was:
"The cows milk may be present in the dark chocolate as dark choclate is
produced on a line which also produces milk choc. "
So it would appear it is just an allergy notice.
