Thinking of a new Cobra
Published (2009-11-25 14:03:00)
before you can get any sensible answers you need to proivide a bit more information about yourself.... You need to tell us your budget- cobra replicas start at ?8k (no V8, most likely a few eyars old) and go up to ?40k, ?55k+ if you want an aluminium body. You also need to tell us your plans for use: racing/odd track day/toiuring/holiday or w/e driving etc. Fast road use or gentle tootling along country lanes? Please also dont think for a...

bonnet and boot locks

Or to save a few bob, strip the locks, remove all the pins and hey presto, any key will open them! Any one bothering to try and pick the locks ain't gonna be delayed much by a fully functioning lock! Same reason I used to leave my MG roadster unlocked, to protect the hood. However, then some toe rag didn't check to see if it was unlocked before ripping the hood! Honestly!

This is quite a weird and contraversal post for your very first post, Fannygreen5564. How about introducing yourself with a real name, letting every one know you first.

File that under 'things not to remember' and then lose the file later. It's what I did, or did I? Can't remember!
See how it works!, (and greatly reduces the total costs too).

Hi,
A lot depends on budget, quality and authenticity. For quality and authenticity then Hawk Cars are probably the best Hawk Cars - manufacturers of the 289, 427 and HF Series they do both the 289 (Slabside) 289 FIA and 427 models. They are also agents for Kirkham who produce the ultimate aluminium bodied 289 and 427s.

I doubt whether the springs and shocks came from the donor Jag, certainly the XJ6 parts are much too big to fit that chassis.
If you playing with suspension I would consider:
1. Front anti-roll bar. It was a factory option which I have but I never drove the car without it so can't comment on its effectiveness. The factory testing showed that the front one showed an improvement and that a...
