HELP w/Reflectors
Published (2009-11-20 18:46:00)
Personally, both indoors and outdoors I use flash (love the catchlights). INDOORs, if available, use walls, ceiling to bounce the flash off. Generally, reflector supposed to add a little kick to your image. It supposed to fill in the shadows a drop. ~

Someone who's using it should correct me, but I think I read that the Beta of LR3 won't import the catalog. I'm sure the final release will, however, or there will be a boatload of angry LR2 users out there who won't upgrade.

You can do an actual HDR with one exposure. While HDR should only be used with the right image and not all images, nothing ventured nothing gained when you learn. Hopefully you shot in RAW. 1- Open the well exposed RAW, keep the good exposure. Tweak if you need. Save as a JPG 2- Open the same well exposed RAW file, but bring the exposure DOWN to -2.00 (or whatever works, trial and error at first). Tweak if you need. Save as a different JPG 3-...

Phones are nowhere close to where digital point and shoots are, and have been. Literally only a few phones can even FOCUS, let alone zoom.
I don't think there's going to be a death of the point and shoot anytime soon, but what I think we will see is an emergence of m4/3rds type systems coming up. Sony is involved, Samsung, Panasonic, and Olympus. They're expensive now, but in a few years, ...

Ouch!
the only thing that comes to my mind as a possible error in the test ( and I honestly don't know enogh about it to know if its a problem with this test or not) is that the RAW processing was, at some level incorrect. I recall that early 50D images were softer until the RAW processing (or maybe firmwire) was upgraded and then results improved overall and this could be what we are seeing ...

PVC pipe and elbow fittings make nice square or rectangular panels. I tend to favor big reflectors, about 72 x 42 inches. Square and round reflectors are a lot easier to position in a makeshift or temporary way than round reflectors. Fabrics are made from, well, fabrics. Round reflectors want to roll; rectilinear reflectors do not roll.
There's a fellow, whose name escapes me, that makes a ...

Sweetness! It'd be cool to see longer trails of the stars. Actually, never too long. I like the exposure though, it's perfect. Not sure about the ghost image though.

Well, too bad I have to post first being a real photo newbie. Ah well:
All shot with E-420. The lenses I have are 14-42mm, 40-150mm and 70-300mm - not the fastest lenses unfortunately. No filters and no tripod yet.
I really love to shoot manual focus and handheld so if you see soft you'll know why

I can't help you with which brand but I can tell you the Olympus/Zuiko lens ARE NOT HARD To Find
Both systems have standard and high grade lenses, you need to decide how much you want to spend for speed and image quality. And which camera features are more useful to you.
Google Vistek, McBain Camera, Don's Photo and Henry's, they are all Canadian. For some items it's actually less ...

The back of your camera manual will give the compatible flash info. If you no longer have the manual visit www.canonusa.com
A good entry level digital light meter is the Sekonic L-308S. Many prefer the Sekonic L-358.

It's a 15mp XSi with video and can finally shoot high ISO, although not that useful. 12000 on the APS sensors looks like dog ****.

Haha. You have just opened a big can of worms here!
From an economic point of view it does seem to make sense. However (Im a Canon man by the way) in my opinion Nikon bodies are king when it comes to High ISO Image quality. My friend has a D3 and its the absolute Mutts Nuts in my humble opinion. However ive also tried a Canon 5D and it is also excellent at high ISO's. Afraid i cant answer ...

Memory cards are often something that gets a lot of markup in price at certain shops. Head over to Amazon there are some far better prices there:

I'm very new, so I can't really offer anything. I have been following your many threads, though - and I'm curious to know - Why, if you already know the photo is blurry, are you posting this photo? What sort of advice/critique are you hoping for here?

So you can capture more of the scene. There are much larger zooms out there - all a zoom lens does is give you more options than using your feet.
Let's say you want to photograph the Grand Canyon, well you can only move back so far... a wide angle zoom allows you to capture more of the scene. Same holds true with 'zooming in', you can only move forward so far...
I dunno... weak example but ...

They're kinda noisy... Probably due to the high ISO. Use a tripod and a longer shutter speed so you can lower the ISO.
On the ones taken in the mirror, I would flip them 180 degrees so all the writing isn't backwards.
