These things are an essential part of the toolbox. Especially for data recovery. Even more so when it comes to laptop drives. I have used both Vantec and Sabrent models and haven't had any issues from either. As long as you follow the steps they work good. Which means the drive should be connected to the adapter, powered on, then finally connected to the computers USB. If you follow those steps you shouldn't have any issues.

This is why I don't like using the backup/restore methods built into Windows. When you restore an image of a partition... [Made & restored using a 3rd-party program] That includes a working combination of operating system and programs... The whole thing is complete, and is pretty certain to work, if the hardware hasn't been changed in the meantime. I do this easy-as-pie, on a routine basis... Normally using programs run...

If you search his moniker, he also tells India sites he is posting from the US, even when posting from India, and does the same single posting of Ethernet help questions there. I feel sorry for him, he has literally hundreds of questions about Ethernet that he asks for help on, and he never gets them fixed...

Now, now...it is entirely possible...I mean, heck so many companies have outsourced their customer service to India, it is entirely possible that now they've sold off their WV holdings, that Verizon has moved in too...just to make all those companies feel like they never left.

My "favorite OS" is whatever is the latest & greatest from a particular family or type because of the fact that operating systems generally tend to get better over time, especially as they relate to new hardware. Saphalline, thank you for the imput, hopefully I won't have to use this info on my final today in 7.5 hours as I still don't fully understand it... (my final is at 8AM and it's just past 12:25AM...) Maybe I can digest it when I'm more awake and try and understand it for next semester as I believe I have to re-take the course...

Quote: I have ordered one. Would love to know how you get on with it when you have had a chance to play with it. Whether I would want one might well depend on how hard or easy one was to set up because I might have other clients that would use one. Since I have a number of old P2/P3 boxes the Linux way would be a much cheaper option for myself or else install Ubuntu Server on more modern hardware.

I'm not that techy, but I believe that all cards work with all setups, except some manufacturer errors. It might be faster to just call Geek Squad whenever they open, these forums seem kind of dead.
Also: your graphics unit now is an onboard that's so bad I can't even find any specs on it, I'm googling some decent ones that would work for you, will edit my post in a min. (I could be wrong ...

Update:
Avast just pushed out a second update that seems to have solved the initial FP problem. The good file is 091203-1.
Reports are the new definition file fixes the initial issue.
Avast forums are almost unreachable due to the traffic tonight.

The most important thing that you can do to secure your Pocket PC is to use removable memory cards for data storage. For example, my Pocket PC accepts Secure Digital (SD) memory. The idea behind using a removable card is that you can save all of your data onto the device.

I'm not sure what i have done. I was checking up the DIMM which i unplugged it and attached it back. The problem came up when i start the computer. The monitor screen went blurry and fuzzy. I don't know if i damaged the ram. Does it affect the startup? I didn't see the Bois screen at all. Before i did the above, the computer functioned properly. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I've just bought a small camcorder * and I notice in the System Requirements small print it says I need a 2.8 Pentium 4 or better.
I've just checked in my system information and I have a x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 1 AuthenticAMD ~1665 Mhz ..
Questions:
1. Never having had a camcorder before, I assume that my system is not fast enough to deal with it and that it won't run. Or will it?...

More Info.
I have clean installed xp home,SP2 on another HDD and the exact problem occurs.
In BIOS "Onboard AC97 audio" is set to auto.I have downloaded SIS 7012 audio drivers [which begin loading realtek AC 97 and PC restarts half way through].
Loaded puppy Linux live cd and sound works, plays audio cd ok.
Could the onboard AC97 be faulty?

The home router is likely to have a firewall which will screen you from incoming port scans and such.
I personally use a software firewall as an added layer of protection to shield against other PCs on the LAN (almost never peeps a warning), and as a outgoing traffic monitor.

Go here.
Use the "Find" facility to find:

Stop 0x0000007F or Stop 0x7F or UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
There are 6 errors listed under that heading.
