Just watched the forgotten "Charlotte Gray" with Cate Blanchette. A wonderful period film with not so much great period clothing for the men, who are seedy resistance fighters or collaborators in wartime Vichy France. But she is lovely.

I really prefer to be in the passenger seat. I'm ashamed to say that even though I've walked around many veteran car shows when I lived in CA, I never had the courage to ask/arrange with anyone to give me a ride in a vintage car some time. Most people I knew who had "vintage" cars had sportscars from the 60s which isn't my interest. I'd just like to experience the difference in comfort that ...

Last night, I watched the DVD of Key Largo . Nothing good is ever on TV on Saturday evenings, mother complained, so I got out my DVD collection and we watched that vintage film, from when my mother was still in her 20's.
I was seeing it for the second time, mother for the first. She enjoyed the film, especially the excellent cast: Bogart, Bacall, Edward G. Robinson, Claire Trevor, Lionel ...

I'm faced with a dilemna at present. I have had a room flooded recently and the clean up has triggered a clean out. I collected a lot of mid century American magazines during the 80's (Sat Evening Post, Colliers, Esquire, Seventeen, Life, Nat Geo. etc) and herself is pushing me to sell them.
I know I'm going to regret it
Beautifull car BTW. What triggered the sale?

Sigh! I know how it goes!
However, I have seen quite a few snappy vintage inspired things at torrid.com.
You may want to look there. And with the right make up, hair and accessories, I'm sure you could come out with something quite divine and vintage inspired!

Slugwart, congratulation on your new Fed DL
I've got exactly the same size you have, and the 58 Fed DL they sent me is at least a 59, so yes, akubra fed has a very rough estimate on their sizes...
BTW, welcome to the lounge

I think the "quirkiness" of something like Lysol baths was actually a lack of knowledge. Just like those rubber band weight-loss contraptions, and the "Soda Pop Board."
As for pointed fingernails, those were a popular fashion around the 30's worn by Bette Davis and a few others. Past fashions always make us gasp, even as recently as the 1980's

Looking out the old, original 1929 windows at Burnett Park. Yes, I'm aware
of the broken blind - haven't gotten a chance to fix that yet.
Looking back towards the dining area and the loft bedroom. The lights are
solid white lights that criss-cross from beam to beam. Stephanie smiles for
the dork with the camera.
Up in the loft bedroom, aka the "Geek Cave." Bettie Page and Star Trek,
