1st gen gear rarely taps its full potential so nvidia are probably watching and waiting till theres enough demand and the dx11 specs get sorted properly in both hw and sw terms
if you want to spunk the money on latest gen then do so but like everything there can be a sudden announcement and your cutting art graphics card becomes almost 386like

when I bought an elite, it did not come with a transfer cable, no.
but you can just hook up your old HD to the new elite until the cable comes, and then you can transfer the data to the new bigger HD.
in the meantime, you can do the DRM thing to move anything purchased to the new xbox serial number so it plays without being signed in etc.
so basically, not much palaver
