Low Quality and/or Off-spec...

Apparently so, with bulk oil being a prime suspect. Motor oil and transmission fluid are the top concerns among lubricants. Here's the survey done by Jobber's World. Is something being done? Again, aparrently so. From this Jobbers World site : Quote: In response to what we have been hearing over the years and the strong call to action seen in the JobbersWorld survey results, Petroleum Trends Intl., with the support of other industry...

Tire Inflate Light Comes on
Published (2009-11-29 23:58:00)
On a 70 degree day, lower it to 35 and see what happens. If not, you may have a unit going bad if the pressure is uniform. It takes a few minutes of driving it around to fix the message, but if you have a battery dying, you have to replace the unit.

Changing Front Bearing
Published (2009-11-29 21:51:00)
Clunking, squeaking, or whirring as mentioned above. Mine usually start to squeak and play in the bearing develops. The squeaking usually goes away with application of the brakes as the pressure stabilizes the bearing loads. Mine fail annually most likely because of how I drive my van so the quality may not be terrible, but the factory ones lasted much longer.

Jeez body parts are expensive......
Published (2009-11-28 01:36:00)
I don't do body fillers, man. Replace the steel, or it's worthless. I'd consider glassing it, though. In addition, the inside structure has been bent/damaged, pulled away from the hatch about 1.5", and would need to be realigned. People that randomly pull out damage and just put body filler over it are the ones usually responsible for the strange reactions that previously damaged vehicles have to certain events....

stainless steel rotors?
Published (2009-11-29 20:12:00)
does anyone know of / have any experience with brake rotors machined from stainless steel and 4th gen vans? I can't seem to find any tangible info.. ssbc seems to make a set but they don't have any technical details (such as materials used, country of parts origin).. also, is there a "standard" for the materials for brake rotor applications? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the extra $ to get a set...

I would think since it is a recall the dealer should fix it. Call Chrysler.

Goes to show,if big brother doesnt test products and keep marketers honest, its the consumer who is getting robbed. This basically blows a major hole in Mobil-1's percieved "superiority" in the marketplace. This must be why Castrol EDGE when released, was claimed to be 4x better than Mobil 1.I guess probably even Pennzoil Platinum could beat it!

trans slippage, sugestions?

Tc... I changed the tranny lines also so what i did was just drain the fluid by using the tranny pump to take all the fluid out.. I believe it was like 2 galons i cant remember that well. I still have a box of tranny oil in here so probably i'll drain the stuff out again and re load it with brand new oil. Yes lately has gotten pretty cold in here, nva After putting sea foam to the fuel tank 1st gear has no shutter at all... 4th it is ok...

I too have found the TPMS to be valuable. I was driving along the 401 (our
freeway) with my wife and daughter last winter and I felt that we had run
over something on the road. Within a very short distance the chime went
off, the dash lamp lit and the display told us a tire was loosing pressure.
I knew it was happening fast. I immediately got off the highway and pulled
into a station to find the ...

Well, If you put it in "N" on the highway @70mph you would know if its Trans related or not. Shacking stops, its the Trans. Just to control the Experiment you could keep the gas @ like 2400RPM's to factor that out.

Please tell us your mileagen and tell us what you have done previously to
the transmission and when. Sounds like a good candidate for a fluid change
out (not flush) if that has never been done. The three speed is very
reliable. But in cold weather, worn fluid starts to cause shift anomallies
if it is worn out.

In general, I think it's good advice not to give preference to any individual source. Use a variety of sources and look at trends. If a number of resources tend to indicate similar trends, you can probably figure the chances are good of that happening to you as well.
The same is true of most things. If you're buying tires, don't JUST look at CR and believe what they say. Don't JUST look...

What you got in mind for such a capable vehicle?
1988 was the last year for the Aries Station Wagon, dropped in favour of, you guessed it, the Minivan. 1989 was the last year for the Aries, replaced by the Spirit, with the cross hair grill that denotes Dodge, even today.
Here's some production figures from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Aries

My thought would goto the o2 sensors, which may not necessarily throw a code, but if they are able to read the exhaust gases right, could cause stalling when trying to go into closed loop, that would be my first thought. or a crank or cam sensor that is either gone or flaky, though more likely a cam sensor than a crank sensor (bad crank sensor will prevent it from starting).
