Ref releasing pistons from barrel
Aluminium melts at about 700 deg C Iron at about 1700 deg C. Iron if unevenly heated or quenched cracks.If you feel happy with heat remember the piston expands faster than a normaly Iron barrel so tightens up.If you can get the assembly off the crankases the base of the barrel can be supported and the piston pressed out. Try taking the tap off, and washing with clean petrol and then blowing it out with a
air line. Is there a filter blocked above the tap?. If this dont work you could use solvent cleaners, as used on braking systems. Martin.

I've never had a problem, getting the valves to seal, but be careful I was a bit over enthussiastic once, and went right through the seats into the aluminium, are you getting a seating line on the valve ?
Sometimes you can reprofile the valve a bit by putting it into a drill and use a cutting disc on the seating face to give a wider
contact area.
