No. You can't get HIV from just being scared of it. You get HIV from unprotected sex and sharing needles with someone that is HIV+. I'm glad your talking to your mom. She's right. you're letting your imagination run away with you and allowing those fears it's creating control you. Post Extras:

Sorry to hear about your experience jmiami, completely unacceptable behavior on behalf of your physician. I would file a formal complaint with the practice, group or clinic, most have a grievance policy. Dollars to Doughnuts (no pun intended) he's done this before, and for the record, any more than one additional trainee is too much! You had your provider, NP and 2 interns, thats 2 people too many! He had little time for...

If you feel that you have placed yourself in a position of risk by having unprotected intercourse then the best thing is to do blood tests. You could have contracted some other std, it is always important to protect yourself and those you love.

Hello Yum Yum, If I'm not mistaken, Jonesboro is less than an hour from Atlanta, GA. If you Google "HIV Support + Atlanta, GA" you should get links to several groups that may have folks who could relate to what you're going through. Best of luck, as you go through this difficult time. Your grandson is lucky to have you, and he needs for you to stay emotionally healthy. (I can't imagine raising a four yr old. ) Let me...

hi Keane....I was nervous til I found out my numbers...didn't matter what they were. I am at 383 cd4 count & my viral load is 48,000. I need to start meds and will in a month (waiting for genotype results). I am still up and down emotionally, but am dealing. You will too.

Lovinglife101, Congratulations on all you have accomplished. Sorry to hear about your dilema. Have you explored Hdap - Hiv drug assistance program? In the state where i live, if you have a job that earns $50,000 or less you can qualify for Hdap. That means they will pay for your private health insurance and medication. In my experiece, they have been very helpful and i have had to ...

It is not unusual to never have been sick and suddenly find out you are positive. That is what happened to me. First step is to see you doc and get the various blood tests to find out where you stand. Do you have any people around to support you during this period? You should know that you will be fine. The meds are excellent now. For a couple of months things will be uncertain but ...

Immunodepression has to do with the phsyical effect of immune suppression and it not function right. It has nothing to do with the mental depression that you have. Mental depression will not change your ELISA test, but for your mental health you should talk to your doctor about it.

Please tell me that your doctor is NOT practicing in the United States. We have our problems with healthcare, but I would really hope no doctor would tell someone to get a PCR because of protected blowjob! Sheessh. Please just give up the sex until you get a handle on these fears of yours. Otherwise you will just drive yourself nuts and the rest of us batty.

Yes, it very possible. The mind is a powerful force and stress and anxieity can cause physical symptoms to happen. It can be frightening until you start to understand what is happening. Take night sweats for instance. Yes some people with HIV may experience that from time to time, but it's also a very common occurance in people with anxity disorders. I went through a period when I ...

There are a few things that might be going on. 1) Your doctor is incorrect in his assumption of how long you have been infected. People progress at different rates with this disease. Most HIV specialist won't try to speculate how long someone has been infected. Is he a specalist? b) Was this postive test confirmed by a Western Blot? A postive ELISA must be confirmed by a WB. ...

As bizarre as it sounds to some, I do understand where you are coming from, for sure. Once one is confronted with the reality of their mortality, something we spend most of our life denying, living as if we have "forever" at our disposal, we are enlightened to realize the precious moments we have are what enrich our lives, each moment we have, each moment we share, with another....

You can't get HIV from yourself. I know it's difficult not to worry. However, it seems as though you are worrying yourself sick. Go see your Doctor and get tested. I think you will be much happier knowing you are not infectied with HIV.

You will get through this and be fine. I found out the same way. I recommend Joel Gallant's book and google his website at John's Hopkins. The web has lots of good resources but be careful of reading old stuff. The science has been rapidly changing and reading old stuff will freak you out. Do something nice for yourself.

While the risk is extremely low, especially for the ?dipper? dipping is not safer sex. However, there is a greater risk of getting gonorrhea, Chlamydia and syphilis from dipping. There probably isn't a risk from turning a condom inside out, it still would have been exposed to an environment outside the body. You know the drill.
